On tap at Benno’s in Milwaukee. Deep clear coppery red body, medium off-white head. Piney, citrusy hops aroma with just a touch of caramel. Bright grapefruity hops dominated the palate; fresh hops seem to be this beer’s calling card. Rind, pulp, the whole bit. Complexity, on the other hand, is not this beer’s calling card; the malt bill was understated, and the beer lacked some of the rough pine and toast that are found in its otherwise similar Celebration Ale. That said, this is solid in and of itself, but we’ve all had plenty of other APAs that rival it. Right?

[Vintage 2001 - sampled 2004] A hazy deep red beer with a small light brown disappearing head. The aroma is sweet with notes of fruit and alcohol. The flavor is fruity with notes of strawberries, without much sweetness, but a good hoppyness, that gives it a very dry end.

Bottle Pours a clear redish golden amber with a nice dense creamy white head. Lots of thick persistant lacing too. Aroma is plenty of hops of course but it has a sweet side, balanced well. Flavors are a strong hop character but again, nothing overwelms you. Rich dark malts are balanced with eht citrusy hops and there is a woody mellow flavor that brings it all together. Standard hoppy bitter trailer, a bit grassy, but not too sharp. A nice IPA.

A clear brown beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is dominated by chocolate and coffee and is quite sweet. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate and roasted malt. A very delicious beer.

Blond color. Crispy aroma, a bit malty and lightly smokey. Some nice malt taste, residual sweetness, and bold final bitterness. Very good as thirstquencher.

Cloudy blond color. Light malty aroma, a bit smelly. Almost a lager, poor Weizen character (because of the yeast, probably) and high bitterness. Not a bad beer, but different from the Weizen I’m used to.

Bottle Pours a nice brown black with a medium tan head and substantial lacing. Aroma is much like a dry stour. A bit sour and biting. Flavor makes me think even more dry stout. Dry sour and a bit too harsh. Lacking a little of that sweet dark maltiness. Quite smokey and of old campfires. Very dry and somewhat chalky.

Bottle pours a hazy red-amber with a modest head and thick even lacing. Aromas are syrupy sweet hops and bown sugar. A sweet woody hops flavor is up front with a fairly sharp alchol bite. Smooth feel and moderate carbonation. A barley wine with a well deserved high score. HeRftYDrf is a beer-sharing FOOL !

2004 version. Pours is a nice red with a white head. Aroma is very hoppy almost winey. Flavor is a dry hoppy bite with some malts at the back end. Very fresh and full bodied. Good stuff!
