A hazy golden amber IPA with a beautiful frothy off white head. In aroma, bready hoppy and floral, pinhey, strawberry notes. In mouth, a nice doughy caramel malt with good restrained c-hops, well balanced, grapefruit notes, a bit of funk, and lighter than expected. Tasted Nov. 22 2009.

Deep copper coloured body with ruby tints, a dense tan head and a bit of orange highlights too - looks nice! Aroma of strong hops, alcohol, metal, malt, caramel and a bit of pit fruits. Full-bodied; Assertive hoppy flavour with alcohol and metal behind along with a good dose of malts and yeast. Aftertaste rough around the edges with a metallic twang and a hoppy finish along with plenty of noticeable alcohol. Overall, a good beer, definitely respectable for the style, which I don’t like too much, but can find the good aspects of this beer - a ton of hops and bitterness, which differentiate this to most other Imperial IPAs. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 03-October-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 18-October-2009.

Had a pint on draft at The Red Square in Burlington, VT. I enjoyed this brew a whole bunch and was surprised to see a sub-3 rating. Pours a rich, dark brown with a medium head. Nose is roasted malts and hints of hop. Flavor is complex, not surprisingly, dazzling the palette with the myriad sensations. Notes of caramel, chocolate and coffee. Finish is very smooth. I want to try this beer again.

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a hazy yellow-gold color with an enormous yellow-white head. The aroma was moderately strong fruity and floral hops and not a whole lot else. The flavor was bitter, sour, crisp and fairly full of fruity and floral hops with a light sour malt underbody. The finish was dry and bitter. Somewhat undistinguished.

courtesy of pamola. pours copper brown, thin beige head. Aroma of dark fruits with some roasted malts, caramel, grassy hops and tad sugary notes. Taste, currants/fig? fruits, caramel, malty, some spices. Light for a barley, reminded me more of a brown with a light nutty finish.
