Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a red-chestnut color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was mostly citrus and grapefruit. The flavor was nutty, woody, malty and had a lightly rough fruity hop presence. The finish was long woody, nutty and fruity. Fairly thick in body.

22oz bottle-pours a foamy white head and yellow/gold color. Aroma is grainy/wheat, orange, spices-coriander/pepper. Taste is grain-some caramel sweetness, orange, spices-coriander/pepper/metallic hops. The coriander and metallic character are a bit harsh. OK carbonation.

Sampled at the Savor DC event. Pours a watery, opaque black with a wispy white head. Aroma is smoked and peaty. Flavor is more subtle than the aroma with toasted, chewy grains noticeable and just a touch of smoke on the tongue. Lasting smoke flavor but also a touch watery on the palate. The smoke flavor really lingered in the glass a while too.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of markgugs. Pours a clear, dark amber golden with an off-white head. Discreet aroma of overripe fruit and some spices - mint? Medium body, a little caramel and spices. The bitternes is very discreet. What a thin Barley Wine. 290308

Muddy with tiny off white head. Sweet fruity aroma with caramel and hoppy notes. Rather sweet flavor with caramel notes. Pretty thin for a barley wine….

Ruby brown with a small off-white head. Dried fruits, plums, and malt in the nose. Sweet and feeling rather thin, quite unimpressive.

12 fl oz bottle@fonefan/Brugmansia’s Cnudde tasting. Pours slight cloudy with a lacing white head. Mild mouldy and light malty aroma. Flavour has a mild bitter and slight malty note. Ends light and roasted malty with light barley classic flavours of wood and fruity malt flavours. Yet its quite thin bodied.
