Description
Beavertown was founded in 2011 by Logan Plant, the son of Robert Plant, singer with Led Zeppelin. At first established as a brewpub in De Beauvoir Town, East London as part art of the Duke's Brew and Que experience. Expanding means moving! In 2012 to Hackney Wick and in 2014 to Tottenham Hale.

In June 2018, it was announced that Heineken would be buying a minority stake, so that Beavertown could spend £40 million on a new brewery and visitor site. The new brewery was launched in 2020, with a capacity of 500,000 hectolitres, a ten-fold increase in their previous capacity.

As of 7 September 2022 Heineken has taken complete control of Beavertown and now has 100 per cent ownership. Founder Logan Plant will stay on as an adviser.

Bottle at Chriso tasting, thanks Bruce (Deeblo), 18/11/12. Hazed mid amber with a thin off white head that soon forms a little film and scatters to the edge. Nose is pine, hops, tropical fruits, mango. Tastes as nose, big pine kick, hops, citrus tones. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish. Decent stuff.

Draught @ Cask Pub & Kitchen
Aroma is stale with raspberries and vanilla. Flavour is hoppy with resiny malt and some strawberries. Too much berries and too sticky - just like other rye ipas too.

On tap at Craft Beer Co - Islington on 17th November 2012. Almost black with a cream coloured foam ring and spot lacing. Rich roast aroma with festive berries. Rich and intense roast malts without excess sweetness, mild smoke, berry fruits and coffee in-mouth. Smoky finish with citric tang and herbiness. Smooth, slightly leathery mouthfeel. Exquisite.

Bottle at BrewDog Camden. It pours very dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is smoke, BBQ flavoured crisps, fire lighters and toast. The taste is roasted malt, toast, smoke, hint of caramel, cola, light sourness, ash and some bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not particularly complex but a solid brew nonetheless.

Opaque black beer with a big pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry and with fine carbonation. Dry dark malt, creamy and with a whisper of roast. Bitter hops, touch of citrus but mostly just bitter. Finishes dry and bitter. Too dry and bitter. A head scratcher this one - everyone seems to love this except me. Must try another bottle. 2.3
