Bottle shared by Countbeer @ "Cut weer" tasting. Opaque pitch black color, average sized brown head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, dark malts, light roast, a slight hint of black currant and slightly liquorice. Taste malts, lightly liquorice, a touch of caramel and lightly hops in the background. Average to decent body, average to medium carbonation.

Pours copper with a very small fading head.Nose shows soft phenols, bready and toasty malt and sultanas.Flavours include toasty and biscuity malt, brown sugar and spicy notes.

Second of the ten "Red Project" red beers made for their 10th anniversary. Odd that I recall going there a little more than 10 years ago with our then tiny daughter - they seemed very well established that day. Bottle, 11C. Dark reddish brown with a beige head that fades pretty quickly but never quite disappears. Gentle malty aroma with hay, dough, oranges, some dried fruit, light roasty notes. Medium bodied. Quite bright fruity flavours - oranges, pears - with a firm roasted note, floral and peppery bitterness. Intriguing finish with oranges and mildly roasted coffee. Not sure whether it’s really red or a tripel, but an interesting and accomplished beer.

Aromas of cherry, plums and biscuits with an overlay of white pepper are really delightful. It’s less impressive in the mouth, with a slightly watery palate and quite intense bitter plum flavour but not much complexity.

Bottle, 10C. Had this as the blood moon reached totality. Slightly hazy pale amber with a white head. Aroma is floral and spicy with plums, slightly funky crackery dough. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. And so it tastes - a bit of toffee, slightly tart plums, light dough, peppery and quite bitter at the fairly dry finish. The finish has funk, spices and bitterness and really makes it. Alcohol is dangerously well hidden. Good. [3.7] Seems to be changing quite quickly - now has a peach bubblegum character and is fruitier overall.

Pours gold with a small head.Nose shows gin, herbal notes, woody notes, hot booze and sweet malt.Boozy flavours too, some herbal hops, sultanas, gin and musty malt.

330ml bottle into glass. Sour malt nose. Murky orange/brown beer with slight film. Zingy on the tongue, raisins and alcohol in the finish. Cloves are apparent as it warms. Not my favourite Red Hill beer.

330ml into schooner glass. Very slight hop aroma. Minimal head, cloudy yellow, looks like fruit juice. Nice taste! Bitter, creamy, a bit fruity. Short finish. Very nice. These guys make nice beer.

330ml bottle into glass. Toffee roast caramel chocolate alcohol on the nose. Dark red colour (prune juice?). HUGE frothy tan head. Looks a bit mad. Tastes sweetish with a subtle clean hop finish. Really well balanced.

Growler from Grape and Grain. Listed as 10% ABV there and in the GABS programme, but I don’t believe it. Dark brown, small beige head. Think this lost a bit of carbonation, but on the low side is fine for me for this sort of thing. Aroma of chocolate, dried fruit, Sherry, toast. Quite sweet with moderate bitter spice and whisky notes creeping up towards the end. As ever, love those judicious Red Hill peppery hops. Dried and stewed fruit, toffee, some Sherry, a little chocolate. Biggish, but no heat from the alcohol. Never been a fan of their Scotch Ale, but this heftier version works well.
