Bottle, 11C. Red with a pink tinged off white head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of spiced sweet dough, hibiscus, cherry, wild herbs, dried orange peel. Quite sweet with dough and jaggery-like sugars, but herbal notes are quite strong and counter the sweetness straight away. Dries out a fair bit at the end. There is some bitterness but it’s mainly there as support for the interesting herbal and floral notes. Sorely tempted to knock a point or two off for calling this a Belgian IPA but liked it too well.

On tap at The Local Taphouse, Sydney on 10th September 2015. Reddish brown with thinning off-white foam. Smoky aroma with rich roastiness. Lush roast malt combo in-mouth with smoked meat notes. Smoky, spicy finish. Zingy mouthfeel and medium body. Exquisite.

Bottle. Bronze with a beige head that settles to a good coat. Earthy and spicy aroma with dark fruits, toffee and the forest floor. Rich but not very sweet with stewed cherries and dried fruit. Earthy and spiced (anise pops out right at the end), a hint of funk. Not quite as involving as the aroma but mellow with well integrated flavours. Another good one in this series.

4th in the 10th anniversary series. Bottle. Dark reddish amber with a beige head that settles to a fat coat and lasts well. Dramatic looking beer. Aroma of grapefruit, singed toffee, mocha, some dried fruit, pepper. Medium bodied, lowish carbonation. Sweet with salted brûlée caramel, bitter chocolate, some spices. The citrus and other fruit flavours almost disappear. Fairly bitter and a bit salty at the end. Interesting. [3.6]Cask at Red Hill. Sufficiently dark red that it’s almost black. Lasting fat coat of beige head. Silky, lowish carbonation. Flavours a little more open. Really big bitter dark chocolate. Unusual and good.

Some residual sugars and almost fruit on the nose. Deep red colour. Very true to tripel style in terms of flavour profile. Big, malt-driven punchiness.

From bottle. Wonderful bacon-forward aroma. Deep amber colour. This is all the good aspects of a rauch. Porky smokiness. Wish I’d drank this with cheese.

Bottle. Dark reddish brown with a beige head. Aroma of rich toffee, smoky glaze, hints of flowers and spices. Sweet and rich with layers of caramel and a surprising hint of chocolate, gentle bitterness with some spices at the end. Lovely soft texture with lowish carbonation. Not overcomplicated. A rather cuddly beer.
