A big coffee nose on a near-black body with a thin tan head. A really nice and relatively rich porter for 5.8% abv. Taste profile leads with café au lait, supported by some semi-sweet chocolate and a touch of cherries. Not getting any cinnamon here. A nice creamy mouth feel and relatively dry finish make this a winner.

Really a nice brewing accomplishment. Mild chocolate, coffee and a forest floor mustiness on the nose. A brown opaque body with a light white head. This is a really tasty, balance and smooth brown ale. The taste profile features slightly roasted malt, nuts, a slight creaminess, a touch of lush dark fruit, some woodiness and a hint of vanilla. Really light on the hops, but it really works well. Fresh tastes perfectly blended.

A pleasant malt and citrus nose, frothy white head and a light golden body. This is a fresh tasting and refreshing imperial. The taste profile features citrus, orange and floral accents. Bready malts, a touch of pepper with a hint of honey round out a very tasty summer beer. A little light on some pilsner characteristics, but tasty and well made nonetheless.

A big fan of this one! Copper gold in colour with pine, grapefruit and floral elements to the nose. Pine resin and citrus rind hops get your immediate attention, but they are ably balanced by the presence of substantial bready malt and burnt caramel aspects. The mouth feel is very rich which helps moderate the slightly astringent bitter aftertaste. This bites like a Stone product! Very unusual magnitude to this Double IPA for an Ontario micro beer. Well done! (postScript Oct. 2015). This new batch has a less vibrant taste profile, with both the hops and the malt greatly moderated.

Hazy orange, large white head. Big mango and pineapple aroma, with some pithy citrus. Mouthfeel is creamy, carb is the same. Medium bitter, pithy, and the tropical notes in the finish come across as juice added to the beer.

Tap at Volo. Hazy yellow pour, frothy white head. Aroma is quite crisp and bright. Big punch of fresh cut grass, lemon, and grapefruit. Touches of yeast, and slight funk. Medium bitterness, light funk, very drinkable, solid saison.

Tap at c’est what?
Clear golden pour, medium white head. Aroma is grassy, but quite sweet, with a solid pale malt base, with some alcohol in the background. Mouth feel is full, and the carb is very soft. Finish is more bitter than i expected, and there is a big amount of sweetness that the grassy hops cant see to cut through.

Growler from the LCBO. Jet black pour, medium beige head. Quite chocolaty Aroma, with some light smoke, I was expecting much more. The coffee seems lost, hints of it poke through but it’s very much in the foreground. The coffee comes forward in the end with some big bitter earthy notes, and solid roasty coffee beans. Bitter cocoa, and some more subtle smoke round it out with a light to medium bitterness.

A lovely balance between the citrusy hops and the caramel mats. Roasty, brown sugar notes, medium bitterness with some solid hops. Good stuff.

650ml from the lcbo, served at room temperature. Murky brown pour, with a big beige head. Earthy, woody aroma, with alot of ripe fruit, with some subtle spices. The wood doesn’t seem to be doing much, juts a slight earthy woodiness. The fruit is subdued, and not as upfront as I expected, some for sweetness, but I like how the spice is subtle. All in all a nice effort, but a touch bland for the style.
