On cask @ Fountain Inn, St. Sampson, GY. Cloudy dark yellow in the glass, smooth and fresh beginning. Nice ale characteristics with only hints of malt. Easy to drink and not too sweet. The mainpart is smooth, ale bitterness together with a smooth hint of malt. The aftertaste is malty, smooth-dry, nicely bittered. Dry malt with a nice ale bitterness remain on the tongue together with hints of sourness.
Much better and more round than the bottled version! 13/12/13/13

Keg, halfpint, as Randall’s Monty’s, at The Last Post, Guernsey. Copper colour, low white head. Moderate aroma, some caramel and nuts. Distinctly nutty flavour, also caramel, but not very sweet. Moderate hops in the finish, some bitterness in the aftertaste. For a keg ale, this is not too bad.

Can from Coop, St. Peter Port. Light brown in the glass with a huge white head. Nose is malty and fresh. The beer starts smooth and nice bitter. Probably a bit too sweetish to the mainpart - the nice maltiness gets a bit drowned. The aftertaste is sweetish-malty, not much bitterness there, grainy-malty-sweetish.
Medium bitter with a much better beginning than end!

Bottle from Waitrose, St. Peter Port. 5.0% Smooth and malty start. Quite sweetish and easy to drink. Malty sweetness lies over the beer, slightly dry bitter aroma in the aftertaste, but still quite sweetish. Long lasting aftertaste, malty sweetness, slightly bitter with hints of bitter-ale aroma.

Tap @ Prince of Wales, St. Peter Port. Smooth beginning, fresh with sourish hints. Caramel, chocolate, deeper and smoother than thought. Very nice smooth chocolate malts together with a sourish hint that makes it highly drinkable. Deep malts, a very moderate bitterness in the end. On the tongue remains a nice smooth milk chocolate aroma together with roasted hints and slightly sourish malty characters. A great brew! Like biting in a bar of darker milk chocolate!

Cask pints (numerous) at The Last Post, Guernsey. Cask ABV is 4.5%. (ABV of the bottled version is 5.0%.) Copper to brown colour, low creamy head, slightly off-white. Malty aroma with some caramel and toffee notes. Malty flavour too, toffee and nutty notes, a little fruit, very moderate hops - a very British character overall.

Bottle from Coop, St. Peter Port. Smooth malty beginning. Smooth grainy-malty body, slightly dusty. The mainpart is smooth, not too deep. Dry-dusty malty, slightly bitter, dry-malty finish.. Could be much deeper...but not watery at all!
