Description
Labatt has deep roots in Canada stemming from its founder John Kinder. In 1847, a little more than a decade after arriving in London, Ontario from Ireland, John Kinder Labatt purchased London's Simcoe Street brewery in partnership with Samuel Eccles and by 1855 had become the brewery's sole proprietor. The brewery was later renamed John Labatt's Brewery, marking the beginning of one of Canada's largest and most successful companies.
In 1995, it was purchased by Belgian brewer Interbrew. Labatt is now part of the new company, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev).

Bottle at Maria's Taverna, pours black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and some sourness. Flavour is very unpleasant acidity, some roasted malt and a stale character. This was quite vile.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a glass. Pours a pale yellow with medium sized head that dissapates quickly. Aroma is light metallic corn, very little lacing, and little carbonation. Taste is metallic corn and cardboard. Poor beer.

Draught at Rocket Bar. Guinness does not seem to travel well, since this one is more bitter and acidic than its Ireland-borne uncle. Still nice enough, but I would encourage fans (and even non-fans) familiar with the US version to try the Irish version.

Bottle in a Brooklyn backyard. Poured dark brown with the typical deep, thick beige head. Strong roasted malt aroma, with dark chocolate and light, bitter coffee. Flavor starts sweet with loads of cocoa. Some dry, roasty bitterness hangs around. Medium bodied with smooth, soft carbonation. Finishes semi-sweet and roasty with lingering cocoa. Really good bottle. Seemed much better than I remember.

I picked this up in 6 pack form when my band played dekalb Illinois. Enjoyed while sitting on a ratty chair with some weird bear skinned rug behind me. It’s not bad, very creamy, kind of carbonated, hints of chocolate and roasted malt.

Guinness Extra Stout is brewed here under licence by Labatt Brewing. It pours a pitch black colour with very slight red highlights. The big tanned head is thick and creamy. It goes down very uneven, slowly. The lacing is all around and foamy. Sourness is in the taste and aroma mildly. Don’t know if this one was outdated. Found in a bad convenient store close to Montreal. Find this one less bitter then the Guinness Draught (can). Soft scent of roasted malt and nuts. Dry finish of hop. Thin mouthfeel but interesting. Not much, other then appearance.

Drank lightly cool from a plastic cup in the dairy aisle of my local super market from a sales repo that was offering some samples. He then went on and explained to me how that beer would only be available in QC and the recipe had been based on Bud Light expect it didn’t taste like water because they added a bunch of hops! Also that I should buy some now because it was flying off the shelves but that it was only available in case of 24!!! I politely decline and went on to pick some yogurt for the kids. I should probably go on about how the beer was but I am sure you will get a clue form either my ratings or from the last time you sample some Bud Light.

Finally, comes in a single can (as I did not want to buy a 24 of this - just like I had to with the Bud 4). Pours a very light yellow colour with lots of big bubble carbonation and a fizzy white head that disappears quickly, leaving minimal lace. Adjunct scent with some corn, typical Labatt aromas. Same for the taste, adjunct at first and corn finish with a very short aftertaste. Refreshing overall, with the adjunct not being too strong or offensive (as it is a light beer). Goodbye Labatt Bleue.

Nothing better than rating some awful shit from Anheuser, right after one that was great and got 4.2 out of 5. Now let see... pale gold, fizzy white head, some spotty lacing, not much carbonation. Brewed by Labatt in Canada and seems to be only found in Quebec stores right now. I see no other information about this one. Could only get a 24 pack of this in a Metro here. Smells like typical Bud, with some corn and their weird adjunct products. Hardly any taste to this. Water, water, water. Maybe a little corn in the aftertaste. Plain and ugly from the glass, need to chug this one from the bottle only. When really desperate.
