Description
Labatt has deep roots in Canada stemming from its founder John Kinder. In 1847, a little more than a decade after arriving in London, Ontario from Ireland, John Kinder Labatt purchased London's Simcoe Street brewery in partnership with Samuel Eccles and by 1855 had become the brewery's sole proprietor. The brewery was later renamed John Labatt's Brewery, marking the beginning of one of Canada's largest and most successful companies.
In 1995, it was purchased by Belgian brewer Interbrew. Labatt is now part of the new company, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev).

12 oz bottle. I can’t believe this stuff is brewed by Moosehead. I *hate* Moosehead. This is unbelievable. I figured when I bought this that it was authentic, meaning brewed in Ireland. WTF? Okay, I haven’t even ranked it yet. I will give it a chance. Aroma is excellent. It reminds me of Samuel Smiths’ dark beers. Smells like dough. Pours nearly completely black with a medium head which dissipates into a thin layer of foam. Nice lacing. Taste is somewhat sweet at first but it leaves a bitter aftertaste, then some sourness even. Full-bodied, fully carbonated. Obviously a very well-made stout. Good job Moosehead! Now if you can only apply this level of quality to your flagship skunky lager.

Bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours an opaque black color with a large tan head that sneaks up on you. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of dry grainy notes and slight nuttiness with a tart dark fruit note in the finish. Taste is roasted malts and dark fruits with just a hint of smoke. Fairly hoppy. Medium bodied.

Bottle. Poured a very pale golden yellow with minimal head. Aroma had some sweet malt notes and a bit of hops. Had a watered down taste picking up a bit of malts. Heavy amount of carbonation in the beer.

12oz bottle. Pours dark with a light brown head, not much of a lace. Aroma has a nice hoppy floral smell. Taste has a bitter flavor with a nice amount of hops to balance the malt. Overall a very nice beer.

Generic, bland, pale lager, hardly different to Kokanee or Molson. Very poor.

Had on tap some time ago at the Toronto airport. Served very cold; had a dry finish, at least, but just some bitter grains and a bit of alcohol. Not at all worth remembering, and I only picked it because of the price. Re-Rate December 15th, 2010 - it actually gained 0.2 points!

Pours deep brown into a shaker. Cola head quickly recedes to nothing. Smoke and chocolate aromas. Cocoa and sweet aspartame...drain pour.

Bottle. Pours a medium gold with a fizzy white head and aromas of grass, lemon and grain. Flavor is sweet and uninteresting... with a grassy finish.

Overall Impression: Canada's attempt at the clear golden, corn brew. It's not particularly exciting, but as far as Macros go it's not super awful either...

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium golden color with a large soapy white head that faded quickly. The aroma was faint, tangy and industrial. The flavor was faint, dry, watery and had a touch of cardboard. Te finish was short, dry and tangy. Incredibly watery but inoffensive.
