Description
Labatt has deep roots in Canada stemming from its founder John Kinder. In 1847, a little more than a decade after arriving in London, Ontario from Ireland, John Kinder Labatt purchased London's Simcoe Street brewery in partnership with Samuel Eccles and by 1855 had become the brewery's sole proprietor. The brewery was later renamed John Labatt's Brewery, marking the beginning of one of Canada's largest and most successful companies.

In 1995, it was purchased by Belgian brewer Interbrew. Labatt is now part of the new company, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev).

Dark gold colour with creamy white head. Corny aroma with little honey in aroma. Crisp amlt and adjuncts with sweet honey finish. Tin aftertaste. This sucks. Jan. 2005.

This dark beer is good, but I don’t like it as much as Guinness Draught. It’s nice and thick, just like it’s brother Draught, but the creamy head is missing, as is the flavor I long for. This one’s a bit on the bitter side, not overly, but enough. It’s a drinkable beer, but not something to drink on a regular basis.

I thought that this beer was alright. It was a little too dry for my tastes, but I can forgive that. A lot better than most macro brews.

Bottle. Pours very pale straw color with effervescent bubbles. Aroma of straw/grass with sweet corn syrup underneath. Taste is pretty syruppy and sweet, yet light bodied.

The Sapperton Brewery made Lucky famous in Canada and here I am, in Sapperton, drinking a Lucky that I bought in Sapperton, that was apparent made at the now-defunct Sapperton Brewery. It’s like I’m living a historical beer fantasy come true. Light yellow colour. Grainy aroma. Body is light, slightly carbonic. Flavour is minimal, ranging from creamed corn to light esters to not much. Nothing to recommend about it, but it’s not vile like so many other budget brands.

This was my second treat from Air Canada on my way to RBSG in Montreal: A pale yellow beer with a huge white head. The aroma is malty and slightly sour, while the flavor is sweet and grainy with a dry hoppy end. Nothing wrong, just boring.

2005 bottle shared with bucknaked 4/28/2005. Pale yellow-golden, fizzy white head, overcarbonated. Corn bread and alcohol in the nose, with a flavor of veggies, green peppers, radicchio, bit of alcohol. Once the carbonation dies down, it’s almost palatable. . .almost.

2005 bottle shared with bucknaked, 4/28/2005. Aroma is actually decent, not as vanilla-corn ridden as the previous 6 or so swillers. Bit of actual dry grains. Flavor of grass, water, redeemable barley malt, some corn syrup. Wow, I actually finished this. Medium-light body, pale yellow-gold, little bit of white head.

2005 bottle shared with bucknaked and the sink, 4/28/2005. Yellowish-pale-gold body with a fizzy, unretained white head. Smells of cheap vodka in a plastic squeeze bottle, light notes of vanilla-corn. Flavor of cooked cabbage, cardboard, corn syrup, and dirty, hard water. Light body, overcarbonated and just awfully wretching to drink. Drainpour.
