Tap at Takumiya. Hazy yellow, low head. Nice hoppy nose of orange, grapefruit, some tropical fruit, light wheat. Flavor is light and crisp, tropical and citrus fruits, easy drinking and light, not slick or oily. Not a huge hazy bomb but a well balanced session IPA.

Tap at Takumiya. Pitch black with only a bit of lace. Big aroma of chocolate, licorice, soy sauce, light coffee. Not overly sweet, cacao nibs some through, plus a spicy licorice-like flavor I assume is form the hops. Big flavor with a relatively light and easy-drinking body. Could be dangerous. Tasty stuff.

Tap at Takumiya. Medium bronze, clear, low head. SPicy, fruity hop nose, the Simcoe definitely comes through, with clean, bready malt. Well balanced and tasty West Coaster, nicely done.

Tap at Takumiya. Dark brown with orange tints, somewhat hazy, low head. Big aroma of rich chocolate malts and spicy hops. Bread, light caramel, bit of citrus. Fruity esters. Rich malt flavor, lovely chocolate notes, gripping hops with a nice minty character and bitterness in the finish. A great beer.

Bottle from Tokyo. Pours a reddish amber hue with a small white head after a bit. A big nose, very vinous, big sherry barrels. Sweetness underneath big tart funky vinous barrels, some light nice heat. Big funk, sweeter malts. Balanced. Damn good. Lake Biwa gives more bounty.

Tap at Porta. Very pale gold with a greenish tint, clear, and a low head. Lemony nose, light, crackery malt, and the green tea definitely comes through though I would not have been able to label it tea. Slightly perfumy flavor, citrus hops, umami from the tea. Smooth and rich flavor, silky and slightly sweet. Tasty stuff, and the tea is really used well, even though we were stumped to guess what was in this.

Tap at CBM. No more Schmatz association. Black with an off-white head. Nose is licorice, cocoalte, citrus, minerals. Spicy hops flavor with rich malt, chocolate, licorice, and no roast of coffee, how I like it.

Two Rabbits Japanese Lager with Tea 5% It’s a lovely light straw gold with pillowy white foam and an earthy floral citrusy aroma. Light bodied, crisp and dry. The taste is quite earthy but changeable which gives it a certain complexity but I can’t seem to pin down what tea they used. It free minds me if some earthy almost metallic Chinese or Taiwanese tea I had years ago but cannot recall the name. Interesting but I think it’d be more successful with a simpler more straightforward variety of tea.
