Description
Oxbow is a small farmhouse brewery located in rural Newcastle, Maine. The brewery is nestled in an enchanted forest amongst rolling farmlands and winding tidal rivers, of which the ebb and flow provide a constant reminder that the coast is near.
The name Oxbow is inspired by the bends in these rivers, the Dyer in particular, which features stunning horseshoe-shaped oxbows where the river covers tremendous ground to travel what could otherwise be a very short linear distance. We employ a similar approach when crafting our beers, taking months or years to create a beverage that is commonly produced in a matter of days.

Canned 8/25/25, drunk 10/10/25.
Clear, blonde-golden. Large, white head, slowly to cover.
No vomit/baby diaper here. Obviously the Brett refermentation seems to be 99% over (or hasn't/isn't going to start) and we've got a clean aroma, albeit not very Bretty. Not too lemony, with big wheat-like notes of biscuit and various grain. Light pepper. Mild all-around.
Yeah, none of that mid/over-Brett-referm character that can ruin a beer (see two reviews down). Just a light, chewy, pleasing, rather delicate, floral beer with soft pepper and light lemon. Seems they've remodeled this one since the 2021 750mL bottle release, as this seems nothing like what the other two raters describe.

Slightly hazy reddish-orange pour with a medium off-white head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Sparse strings of lace. Vinous grape and cherry aroma with some yeast and malt in the background. Medium body with flavors of white grape, blackberry, sweet-tart raspberry and doughy malt. The finish is mildly tart mixed berries and floral yeast. Good beer all around.

Slight haze, pale. Yeasty, a bit flabby. For Oxbow this has a stuck ferm vibe…not at all coming together.

Pours murky amber into a willi. White head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface. Sour smoke aromas. Thick with earthy smoke, tart berry and brown bread front to back. Medium length sweet honey finish.
