Half pint, hand pulled cask at the splendid little pub called Kay’s Bar, Edinburgh. Beige head that stays well atop of a mahogany coloured body. Fine lacework to the glassware. Aroma of spiced chocolate malts. Perfumed impression of the flavour that brings a kind of lightly spiced malts along with a touch of dark fruits. Enjoying bitter notes on the swallow. Good drinking, 28.11.2010.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Dark garnet pour with a thick, foamy, off-white head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet with some charred malts, light minerality, some dry, roasty bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes malty and roasty, some burnt wood, light, earthen hops. Pretty solid brew.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Very acceptable golden ale. Pours clear yellow with a pillowy, pure white head. Fine hop aroma, light grasses and hay, with hints of orange and lemon, and some bready malts. Lightly sweet, with good, crispy bitterness of hay and citrus. Light bodied with average carbonation. Clean, dry finish with modest sweetness and some lingering straw hops. Nice beer.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Pours clear amber with medium, white head. Great earth and light pine hop aroma with some citrus and malts. Sweet, toasty malts in the flavor, with nice, earth and mild citrus bitterness. Medium in body with average carbonation. The balance of this beer is a highlight. Finishes great with a clean bitterness, further mild sweetness and some lingering earthen hops. Excellent beer.

Bottle from Oddbins. Amber colour, creamy off-white head. Aroma is malty, fruity, little wood polish and caramel. Flavour is caramel malts, fruity, some spices. Full bodied and a nice hop punch. Fairly bitter and slightly dry finish. Good stuff.

Cask @ Guildford Arms. Black colour, foamy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits, well hopped. Flavour is roasted malts and fruits. Fairly bitter. Superbly drinkable.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Clear auburn pour with a light, white head. Bready malt nose with brown sugar and roasty chocolate. Rather sweet, nicely, with toast, light caramel, faint citrus and earth bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes sweet and drying, with a nice, roasted malt character and some earthy, lightly sticky hops. Good brew.
