In 2022, we decided to join forces with Hedonis Brewery and start a new brewing site in Michelbeke, in the heart of the Flemish Ardennes.

Pours black. Mocha cream , stable, rather small head. Scent is harsh, soy, roast. Espresso. Taste is bit bitter, soy, (green) coffee. Bit bitter. Doesnt really taste like mussels obviously, tad salty perhaps, but im not that sensitive to salt tbh. Mostly annoyed by the espresso/soy character, which you can encounter in other stouts as well. Nothing off, just not my kind of stout.

Bottle Color: Almost black, light brown head. Aroma: Hoppy, roasted malt, citrus notes. Taste: Hoppy, some melon, hints of lemon, roasted malt, some cocoa, charcoal, subtle coffee notes, some pine, light hints of leather, yeasty hints. Dry roasty and yeasty finish. Medium body, just below average crbonation. Moderate sweet and over moderate to medium bitterness. Nice, unusual and complex mix of flavors.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - bottled on 12.05.2020, at Pikkulintu Kontula, 20230902) The beer poured brown and rather cloudy. Its head was small, bubbly and white. Aroma had raisins, prunes, Belgian style yeast and vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were toasted malts, raisins, prunes, fruitiness, Belgian style yeast, vanilla, chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste had toasted malts, chocolate and bitterness. The beer showed nice ageing characters. The adjuncts were unnecessary extra.

On tap at Siphon. Clean dry hay, with mild vauge esters, general bitterness that almost peppery which lingers. Representitive of the style. Decent.

Strong IPA hopped with Amarillo, Motueka, Rakau, Azacca, Sabro and Wai-Ti, originally developed for the Zythos Bierfestival of 2020 which was cancelled because of the Covid pandemic. From tap at Nieuwjaarsreceptie Gentse Biervereniging. Snow white, creamy, tiny-bubbled, slowly opening but generally well-retaining head on a hazy amberish-tinged peach blonde beer. Aroma of biscuit, dried orange peel, cheese rind (oxidized hops), freeze-dried parsley, toasted onion, persimmon, pink peppercorns, paprika powder, petrichor. Rounded, restrainedly sweetish onset, persimmon and unripe apricot notes, medium carbonated with soft, oily mouthfeel; dry cracker- and old biscuit-like maltiness with a slight ‘rusty’ edge from oxidation, supporting paprika- and white pepper-like spiciness linked to a long grapefruity hoppiness with oniony side notes, connecting well with the soft toasty bitterish side of the malts. Biscuity sweetness lingers beyond the hop bitterness, but so does a cheesy aftertaste of oxidized hop components; the alcohol remains altogether remarkably well hidden, making this one dangerous beer. My sample was noticeably too old with first signs of oxidation, something which bothered others much more than me, because I still liked the general ‘old school American’ flavour profile of this beer quite a lot. I guess I will have to find a fresh sample too then for comparison…

Bottled. Golden colour with a small white foamy head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is tropical fruits, some spiciness, mild rye with some grassy bitterness. Flavour is spicy yeastiness, some sweet bready malts and quite grassy and floral hops. A bit thin as for the palate, but otherwise quite nice.

Keg at Beer Merchants Tap - Hackney Wick. Pours unclear gold with a frothy, white head. So so, quite bitter, grainy, ample grassy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with nips of melon, grain husk. Eh, just about drinkable overall.
