2005 bottle at the Mondial. Extremely hazy, rusty-copper-yellow-orange, very muddy. Creamy white head, well-retained, half a finger high. Good lacing. Flavor is plant-like, very yeasty, chewy texture. Cant get much aroma out of this. Some veggies, light hops nuttiness, very yeasty and dry. Light earthy tones, slight honey. Quite oily on the texture with a medium body. Very dusty and lightly astringent on the finish, quite herbal-like. I find no chocolate, maybe some light fruit notes overall (cherries, green raisins). An oddity for sure.

Cloudy copper pour, high carbonation makes a large, fizzy head that quickly settles to a small ring of foam - spicy aroma, lemongrass, lime leaves, ginger, some earthiness and grass, grain - light, airy carbonation in the mouthfeel - bready malts, ginger again, herbal tea-like qualities - has the earthiness of a biere de garde - I detect some hops, orange peel - light and refreshing, yet complex and flavorful at the same time - who could ask for more?

[Sampled at the Pre-GABF Babblefest 2004] An unclear dark brown beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of yeast and spices. The flavor is also sweet with notes of yeast and spices - here coriander stands out, but it also has some hints of sourness to it.

[Sampled at the Pre-GABF Babblefest 2004] An unclear dark orange beer with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet spicy with coriander standing out, but also with notes of yeast. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, caramel, and spices.

Dark brown, almost opaque. Tanned creamy head. Typical Fantome barnyard-nose, some alcohol, roasted malts and yeast too. Flavor with roasted malts is like drinking Irish Stout plus much more: spices (black pepper), barnyard, cardboard. Spicey aftertaste. Complex, interesting and very earthy.

Refreshing, easy to drink, maybe not so complex than many other Fantomes, but you can notice Fantome’s fingerprints here.

Refreshing summer drink with good hop character. Some sweet yeasts in the background. Though classic saison, this one is quite close to some quality tripels. Warming alcohol in the aftertaste.
