Description
Big Drop Brewing Co. is a new craft beer company dedicated to making great beer with an ABV of no more than 0.5%.

Big Drop was launched in October 2016 by the-then City lawyer Rob Fink, along with his school-friend/band-mate, designer and entrepreneur, James Kindred. Along with renowned experimental brewer, Johnny Clayton (formerly of Wild Beer Co), they’ve perfected techniques to make alcohol-free craft beer without the need for artificial removal of alcohol.

The 2018 contract with a leading supermarket chain will require Big Drop, which moved production from a small-batch brewer in Bermondsey to Sussex-based own-label specialist Hepworth, to scale up production from 10,000 litres per month to some 40,000 litres.

Production moved to Black Sheep Brewery after a deal was agreed with Keystone Brewing Group, announced December 2024.

Bottle. Golden pour. Aroma of citrus, juicy pineapple, biscuity malt and tropical fruit. Taste has juicy pineapple, citrus, orange, biscuity malt and some subtle wort flavor. Very well done, this almost tastes like a real one.

330ml bottle, last day of Dryjan. Pours clear gold, foamy white head, citrus fruit on the nose. Nice overall character reliant on citrus fruits, light bodied of course, but pretty decent for an AF beer.

440ml can @ DryJan beer tasting, Chez Sophie, Jan '20. Pours black, beige head. Odd nose bringing to mind burnt oak, umami, satay peanut, smoke. Taste is super smoky charred ashy wood, cigarette-packed ashtray, peanuts.. Bags of flavour, just a bit odd really.

440ml can @ DryJan beer tasting, Chez Sophie, Jan '20. Clear gold appearance, frothy white bubbles. Light citrus on the nose. General character is quite light-bodied and thin, even for an AF beer with gentle melon and citrus coming through before a dry bitter close. Expected a little more.

27th Jan 2020. Shrewsbury Beer Exchange in Chez Sophie, our first ever 'no alcohol' tasting. 39 different beers, we managed 26 before we bloated ourselves out, this was beer number 23. Can 440ml, BB 8th Oct 2020. Black IPA with a charred leather bicycle seat sort of aroma and taste. Actually it made a change from all the other non-alcohol beers we had tried, but we were tiring of the game to be honest!

27th Jan 2020. Shrewsbury Beer Exchange in Chez Sophie, our first ever 'no alcohol' tasting. 39 different beers, we managed 26 before we bloated ourselves out, this was beer number 22. Can, 440ml; BB 25th Oct 2020. Light haze to the golden pour, white head. Strange watery saison with a mild herbal twist.
