Description
Land & Labour is a side project from Galway Bay Brewery head brewer, Tom Delaney, focused in sour and wild beers. Their aim is to create mixed fermentation beers with Bretts and wild yeasts, without reaching a high acidity. They have created a separated environment for this side project, and imported aged foeders from Italy, France or Switzerland. It was started in 2018, and their first available references where presented in 2020.

Small white head, fast gone over bright if veiled yellow-orange beer. Sour nose, lemony, Bretts' jumble, citruspeel, bit of leathersoap, even some phenolic hints. Fresh lemony flavour, lemonrind, again very Bretty (and the right kind, at that). Slight sulphury hints. Misses still a bit complexity compared to a real gueuze, or even unblended lambic. Lipsmacking acidity, tart " á souhait ". Light body, thanks to acidthinning and light -burn. Excellent beer, indeed lambic-style, and almost worthy of the Pajottenland. IMHO, apart from missing 3 yr old lambic, I fear the basic beer has not the real fermentation cascade that Belgian brewers rely on.

Thnx to Bas ! Pours unclear yellowblonde. No real head. Scent is fairly malty, lactic acid, wet wood. Fairly light. Taste is sharp, tart, bit lactic, woody, mild diacetyl. very decent, but not comparable with the real geuze's, especially since this one is about double the price...

0,375l bottle at home. BB 25.01.2025. yellow lightly hazy color, small fast disolving white head. smells lightly funky, earthy, grassy, herbs, light stone fruits, bit citric, peppery. nice smell. full body, pearly carbonation. tastes citric, grassy, herbal, bit funky, peppery, light stone fruits. finishes dry and light to medium sour with notes of funk, citrus and peppery notes. quite nice one, carbonation was rather aggressive though, makes it more sour than it actually is, also makes it a bit hard to drink. overall very good and promising beer.

Tasting @Luppolo Station (Rome). Dorata, un filo torbida, schiuma bianca medio-leggera. Al naso note di vino bianco, scorza di limone, leggera speziatura. In bocca è vinosa, acida medio-leggera, equilibrata, secca nel finale. Corpo medio-leggero, carbonazione media. Eccellente!

Flaska från Etre Gourmete. Disig gyllengul vätska med medelhögt vitt skum. Lambikliknande på alla sätt. Kanske lite mer citrus, lite kalk, riktigt torr men ganska snäll syra. Vääääldigt försiktigt kryddad. Riktigt trevlig.

Flaska från Etre Gourmete. Aningen disig gyllengul vätska i princip utan skum. Syrlig och aningen funkig doft och smak. Fet ek, strå, druvor och märkligt nog kokos. Fin pigg syra. Gott

Head gone in seconds, finely carbonated yellow-golden beer. Nice weedy-hoppy nose with fine acids, lactic, rhubarb, starfruit, lemon, lime, guave and Bretts. Fruity flavour, mouldy oranges, beeswax, incense, and a hint of vegetable frying oil. White wine with lots of acids. In the end there is a faint sweetness. Titillating feel if visually absent, refreshing, light body. Finish has again something oily in feel. Great!
