Description
Hill Farmstead Brewery is the culmination of many years of travel and insight—of experience and education—of friendships and explorations. The brewery is the revival and continuation of 220 years of Hill heritage and hand crafted history in North Greensboro, Vermont. Its logo is retrieved from a sign that once hung in Aaron Hill's (our great(x3) grandfather) tavern, just up the hill, in the early 1800s.

~ 12 oz tulip glass draft at the Blind Tiger in New York City. Pour is dark brown, black with an ever so slight ruby twinge. Nice one inch off white head falls slowly with pretty lacing. Aroma is the rye up front, followed close behind with roast malt and pine hops. Really fresh clean and balance nose. Taste follows suit, rye, roasted malt and pine hops all nicely blended and well balanced. Palate is medium bodied, aftertaste lingers with the nice soft roastiness. Nice one.

A hazed yellow saison with a thick frothy white head. In aroma, a superb milkey Brett, field flowers, perfumey and smooth. In mouth, a nice cheesey malt, talcum, smooth berries, quite nice. Tasted March 12 2011 with Montreal crew.

Sampled from the tap at EBF. Poured a cloudy deep amber with a slight brown hue with a light brown head that dissipated to the edges and laced nicely. Aroma had a bit of a wine note with some sweet grain backing and hints of funk and light fruits/floral notes. Flavor started with light fruit and a growing bread presence with a bit of floral and funk coming out in the finish.

Sampled from the tap at EBF. Poured an extremely cloudy/murky coffee brown with a brown head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma was full of strong coffee/espresso with a slight roasted malt. Flavor started with espresso the mellowed slightly to allow a bit of roasted malt and a bit of alcohol to come out. Nice on the tongue.

Growler shared by the Montreal crew at the post NotB tasting, thanks! Poured a slightly hazy gold with a white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a combination of grapefruit and pine notes from the hops that was joined by an onion note with a bit of a backing malt note. Flavor was slightly floral which turned to grapefruit and the a bit of a bitter pine and a good amount of onion in the finish.
