(Bottle 50 cl) Amber golden with a lightly creamy head. Lovely fresh nose with both malts and hops coming through. Solid body, aroma hops being quite dominant, and sightly nutty flavours. Only moderately bitter finish. A very sympathetic brew. 120800

(Bottle 50 cl) 5.5% ABV in my version. Neat amber coloured beer with a small, dense head. Very soft and smooth with notes of lightly sweet caramel and a wee touch of smoke. 200500

Whew, massive skunk! I can almost get some light clean malts beneath the mercaptan, but the skunking was heavy and I even made a point of taking a bottle from the back of the shelf. Like their othe beers, smooth with ideal carbonation. The lighter malts in this one make this beer more one dimensionally hoppy, with the rise of bitterness in the finish. Hop flavors minimal, though its hard to judge given the mercaptan flavors mask any sublteties here.

Not bad! I didn’t expect much. Vaguely floral aroma with some light fruits, persimmon esque, a touch of pineapple and banana., especially in the palate. Nicely carbonated on the low end, giving a smooth even palate and medium mouthfeel. Slight hops in the finish. Easy.

Bottle on 12/10/2008 at the James River Homebrew Club December Meeting in a blind tasting. Clear copper amber body wtih a small off-white head. Sweet spice aroma with allspice, nutmeg and light earthy malt. Dry earthy flavor with lots of spice. Medium body with moderate carbonation. 7/3/7/3/13 - 3.3 11/15/2005: Dark cloudy beer with a light white head. A very bland taste with a very mossy aroma. 5/4/5/3/11 - 2.8

Pour is a very dark red with a white head. Aroma is hard to detect but I mostly got some dark fruit in there. Flavor is dark caramel and dark fruits with a nice peaty and earthy aftertaste. I have seen this brew for a long time w/o picking it up and now im wondering what took me so long. A very nice bitter brew.

Pour is a cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma is suprisingly hoppy for an English ale. Flavor is super sweet with some caramel malts up front with a nice hoppy backbone. Gets points for suprising me. I though this would be crap reading some of the other reviews.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s. OK this is it. No more Wychwood beers for me. Don’t care about the ratings anymore. I had one pint of the Prince Albert on cask that was fine, but otherwise, a waste of my drinking capacity. No more. This one has a thin beige head. Dead choc/coffee malt aroma. Some sourness in mouth with bitter choc kicking in. Lacks depth, character and taste. Thanks Wychwood for the variety, but no thanks

Bottled (BB 04/2006)
Clear amber color, good creamy off-white head, lace. Oaky-woody Styrian hops in the dry nose. Lightly hoppy, watery, oaky. Faint late bitterness and toffee notes. Light bitter, but the big bottle is good for sessions :)

Very nice apperance - including a lasting head. Come cinnamon. Lasting aftertaste, but not varied. KI=4.
