Salopian Brewery
Microbrewery
in Hadnall,
Shropshire,
England 🏴
Associated Venue: Salopian Brewery
Established in 1995
Slowly, as cash flow permitted, we upgraded our brewing kit and replaced rusty dented vans with slightly less rusty dented vans. It was the onset of brewing a more eclectic range of cask ale, whilst embracing both traditional styles and those of our locality. 2014 saw the brewery make its final move – we hope! – to the village of Hadnall on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Mid- to dark gold and clear with a loose uneven off-white head. Slight metallic aroma with ripe tangerine and kiwi. Taste is more bitter than I'd expected but there's a nice fruity sweetness. Bitter finish. Surprisingly so. Medium body with soft carbonation. Not their best.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a sizable foamy cream head and good lacing. There’s malts and chocolate in the aroma. In the mouth it is basically sweet, but with a little added bitterness. Main flavours are a deep rich maltiness and some dark fruits and lactose. Plenty of other tastes come through eventually to some degree – coffee, gingerbread, spice and plums. Finish is somewhat sweet and slightly fruity. This is rather nice !

Amber gold with a frothy / creamy off-white head and a sweet fruity aroma. Soft and a touch creamy, sweet fruity notes, a touch of citrus bitterness with delicate biscuit malt underneath, finishes dry and a little bitter.

Pale gold with a frothy white head and a tangerine aroma. Smooth and clean, slightly tart citrus bitterness up front, softens and levels out to finish dry and a touch bitter, soft biscuit malt lurking underneath it all.

Victorian Craft Beer Cafe Back In Black Beer Festival 2025, Beer#8. All black and a gaseous dark-malty beer, quite sweet in this respect too, but not overly so in general terms. Most booziest in aroma, but not very. Decent body. Fine ale but without portfolio really.
