Description
The brewery was founded by Phil and Cynthia “Scuttle” Bannan in 1996 with a 20 barrel system in the brew house, two 20 barrel fermenters and one 20 barrel bright tank. Since then our capacity has grown and we have broadened our product line to include more than 20 styles of hand-crafted ales and lagers.
After more than 20 years Scuttlebutt Brewing Company remains family owned and independent.

Since the beginning Scuttlebutt beers have been brewed in Everett with the Northwest’s finest ingredients – barley from Vancouver, Washington, hops from the Yakima Valley, a proprietary yeast from Odell, Oregon and some of the nation’s finest drinking water from the Spada Reservoir in the Cascade Mountains. Our beers are clean, balanced and have been brewed with care for over 17 years.

Pours orange from the bottle and leaves a foamy, off white crown. Aroma is mango, peach, citrus. Hints of spice. Taste has a firm but not overwhelming bitterness. There’s a strong caramel malt backbone to keep things in balance. Body was medium. Drunk amid much distraction so notes are brief, but quite good overall.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours black with a small tan head. Nose is rather harsh, with earthy roasted malt, boozy bourbon barrels and some dark bitter cocoa. Flavour follows in the same manner, with harsh bourbon barrels, booze, bitter cocoa and some earthy roast. Messy and incoherent, but it's still somewhat pleasant.

Light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and dry and has a mild fine crispness. Light dry malts. Some mild pithy citrus. Light dry finish brings modest bitterness. Dry and quite dull.

Cloudy orange amber with a generous off white head that hangs around and leaves some patchy lace. Nose is bready malts with pine and a good dose of citrus with orange peel at the fore. Flavour follows with light caramel sweetness and a big bitter middle and finish. Mouth is medium+ with average carbonation and a long bitter finish. Decent DIPA. 7/4/7+/4/15

beautiful appearance of dark brown colour and large stable creamy beige head; aroma of roasted nuts, cocoa powder and some unripe plum, as well as licorice notes; taste is the same with dark chocolate and sourish coke-like notes; good porter

Bottle from Brewklopedia, Leicester. Amber and clear with an off-white head. Resin, papaya and rubbing alcohol in the aroma. Bitter taste with a good hit of malty sweetness on the finish. Boozy aftertaste. This is really raw and messy.

12oz 2016 wazed bottle. Wow. This really exceeded my expectations. Quite clean for the 12% ABV, never overly cloying or sugary. Piny, resinous, deep barky tones. Perfectly true to the style. Deep red fruit tinged malt tones. World Class stuff, they really nail it here.
