Thanks to harlequinn for bringing this to the Georgia 14% gathering! Clear, light amber colored beer pours into the glass and creates a small off white head. Malty caramel and a hint of hops form the aroma coming from this one. Smooth creamy palate, well balanced. Could use a little more bitterness in the finish but it’s a very drinkable ESB.

Bottle Pours nearly black (of course) with a large frothy tan head but little lacing. slightly sweet coffee/nutty hint on the nose but faint and not much else. Flavor is mainly coffee but faint, dark toasted, burnt wood. Feel is a bit thin but finished clean with a little lingering bitterness. Another good offering by Deschutes but a few other stouts will rate higher for me.

Bottle Pours with a very nice creamy head and a carmel/copper color. Dont detect much more than hopps and malt in the aroma. Nice semi dark roasted, malty flavor. Bitter hopps is definately ther but seems quite mellow and smooth. Finish is sharp and a shight biter/pucker stays with you for a min. 3 letter styles are usually not my favorite, but this is good. Mike is right "..you can’t go wrong..." with Deschutes. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bachelor Bitter on 07 Jun 2005 at 22:59 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Original review text: Bottle Pours a hazy deep amber with a small but persistant head. Aroma is clean and sharp fruity light grain and not much hops. Flavors are woody, slightly dark and the hops are just there but not very strong. Feel is nice and medium bodied and the aftertaste is pleasant and not very "bitter" More drinkable than I expected. Deschutes is just a good outfit.

Bottle. Nice malty aroma. Sweet and malty but with a nice roasted aftertaste.

Bottle Pours a mid-amber with very little head or lacing. A sharp citrusy smell is obvious as well and the expected hopps right up front. Not as hoppy as I "feared" but it still is the dominating factor. I can’t really look past that for other flavors. Inclined to call this an otherwise, simple, straightforward IPA. Not my favorite style but taste and feel seems ballanced otherwise. Finsih is that bitter bite that is typical of the style. Not overpowering however.

Bottle Pours a reddish amber, with a nice frothey head and little clumpy lacing. Smells of bitter citrus and hopps. I taste the grapefruit as well and a healthy hop content. Full and busy, easy on the carbination, and a lingering slightly acidic trailer. If not for the slightly darker, maltier flavor, I’d mistake it for an IPA.

Nice golden copper with a slighly unfiltered cloudy look. Not much head but determined lacing. Sharp hoppy and a bit of a bite right up front. Like the label says, somewhat floral. Seems well balanced and the finish has a bit of that hoppy tang. Bright and clean.

Bottle. Nice reddish amber color - just what you want to see in a 'red ale'- topped by a nice off-white head. Caramel malt aroma. I was surprised at the amount of hops in here. It's well balanced, has a good hop flavor and is a good amber ale (not my usual). Not bad at all.

Bottle. Black, black and black. Definitely smooth in character, although its mouthfeel is similar to an imperial stout. Incredibly roasty body under one of the darkest brown heads I've seen in a beer. Probably just one will do ya.
