light, ultra filtered golden yellow 3 finger marshmallow like head. aroma is a lemon peel kolsch. light, a littlee fruity, hay, old grass, old lemon peel, mold, wheat, lager sweet finish.

(Thanks, Chris! "AirForceHops") Can. A- Weak, roasted barley, cocoa. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Roasty, char, tobacco, leather, cocoa, mild bitterness. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Really smooth and pours like motor oil. The aroma was pretty weak, not bad just subtle and the flavor fairly subdued as well. Overall, a nice no frills Impy Stout.

Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a black color with a thick finger’s worth of tan foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Sly stringy lace.
The aroma had some bitter ends of hoppy grassiness evenly flowing into some roasty coffee grinds and a slight abrasive dried cocoa malt.
The flavor definitely embraced the roasty to bitter side of this imperial stout to end up pummeling the aftertaste with the roast and bitterness of the coffee grounds. The finish is quick and dry, somewhat sticky.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sipping quality about it. Mild carbonation. ABV did actually feel close to that 10% as they say.
Overall, well, the feel is the best thing about this to be honest as the aroma and flavor seem to actually stick more towards the bitter bookends of the coffee grounds. I did clean my palate from the last beers before this so this stands, take it or leave it.

16 oz can. Opaque pitch black color, full thick cascading tan head that persists. Aroma is massive coffee, dark chocolate, and some earthy hops.

Taste of dark malts, mild roast, dark chocolate, coffee, and a bitter hop finish. Medium plus body, soft carbonation. Very nice. I like this brewery Phantom Punch a lot and I feel this is just slightly better. Maybe the best thing this breweries ever done.

Can. Deep brown almost black, weak head. Aroma has rich notes of burnt malt, nuts, licorice. The strong bitter taste overpowers the flavors but this does add a nice final dimension.

The bitterness lingers after the sip. Light body but correct for the style. Correct for the style but don’t care for the anise type tones.

Pours a nice black-brown from a tap. Aroma of coffee grinds occurs in the mouth as well, with the addition of some baker’s chocolate, bitter in a pleasant way. Good beer.

Light copper coloured body with a bronze glow and a thin off-white head. Aroma of metal, light malt, earth, flowers and hints of English hops along with some pungent toffee. Medium-bodied; Strong earthy malt flavour with a nice balanced hoppiness and some subdued caramelized sugars. Aftertaste is clean with some sweetness and a faint earthy malt note. Overall, a pleasant beer with nothing harsh and a smooth sweetness at the end. Nice to sample, especially on the train, given it’s simple to drink from a can! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased two days ago from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 19-June-2015 for US$2,25 sampled on the train from New York to Washington on 21-June-2015.

Keg at the brewery. Black, large creamy brown head, good retention. Aroma of vanilla, roast, chocolate, mild hops. Taste is strong roast, chocolate. Medium bodied, very bitter.
