After a long week, a busy Saturday and a soak in the hot tub this really hit the spot. Huge range of fruit and bitter flavours and a length that goes on and on. This is really good.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a (very) dark reddish-brown with a medium sized foamy tan head. There’s a subdued aroma with traces of malts and berry fruits. In the mouth it is basically sweet but with a little underlying bitterness, and a creamy texture. Flavour is chocolate malts and caramel with hints of cherries and coffee coming later leading to a somewhat fruity finish. This is decent – amazingly an Oakham beer not swamped by citra hops !

Flavour is composed of nice semi crisp pale grains, weedy hop, hedgerow, assertive hop bitterness, Ernest like vibes. Palate is semi crisp, light hop oils, mellow fine carbonation. Quite interesting.
