Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 2/8/2016. Deep gold in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. Floral hops, plenty of citrus fruits, light malts and a moderately dry finish. Good.

Cask at The Murderers, Norwich. It pours clear rich gold with a small white head. The aroma is rich, sweet grapefruit, lemon peel, honey, biscuit and cereal. The taste is rich, bitter, straw, grapefruit, lemon parfait, zesty, floral and biscuit malt base with a dry, slightly spiced finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty flavoursome for the style. A good strong golden ale.

Keg tap at Mama Liz’s, Stamford. Mid-gold, fizzy. No head. Precious little aroma for an IPA, just some malt and stale hops. Bittersweet taste turning more bitter at the finish. Bitter aftertaste with a suggestion of orange peel. Pleasant enough but there’s not a lot to this. Maybe Lacons should stick to what they do well?
