Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 14th July 2015. Deep sepia brown with tan vanishing, nonlacing foam. Vanila and maple syrup in a roasty aroma. A rich roastiness and citric tang in-mouth; finish is fruity with vanilla and burnt roast malt. Smooth mouthfeel and full body. Rated as a novelty ale.

330ml bottle: bottled on 20th Feb 15. Poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru badged tulip at home on 14th Jul 15. Hazy light orange pour, even though no sediment was seen leaving the bottle: the head a large white, deep blanket of foam. Tropical fruit esters in the aroma, oranges playing a major role in the nose and also in the taste: lemon flavours around in the brew as well. Bitter from the hop content and ’pithy’ in flavour and nature. Drying finish: decent.

Cask. Shakespeare’s, Sheffield. As Deutsch Projekt Hallertauer Blanc. Clear, deep straw colour. Bubbly, lasting, white head. Fresh pineapple. Lemon sherbet. Juicy orange. Taste is crisp, zesty bitter. Some dryness. Crisp palate, with a little spice. Light dry, crisp bitter finish. Nice sessioner.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark black pour with a thin beige head, aroma has citrus action along with some milk chocolate, taste has sweet chocolate, mellow citrus, some roast, a hint of coffee, really nice.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; opaque dark brown pour with a creamy tan head, roast malt, milk chocolate and a hint of coffee on the aroma, taste has dark roasted malts, dark fruits, chocolate orange, a bit watery, but for the ABV it’s an impressive brew.

Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. Thanks Lorna! It pours cloudy pale orange with a small white head. The nose is crazy juicy, packed full of tropical fruits, mango, passion fruit, tangerine, blood orange, peach, marmalade and Five Alive fruit juice. The taste is smooth, yet rather bitter, orange tango, grapefruit, mango, tropical fruit juice, creaminess, waxy citrus rind, grassy edge and pine with a citrusy finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. The aroma is really quite spectacular. Rather refreshing also. Nice work.

Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. It pours near black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich, bitter-sweet, zesty, juicy orange and chocolate roast. The taste is bitter, earthy roast, cocoa, peppercorn, orange zest and light coffee with a dry, roasty finish. Light-medium body and average carbonation. Pretty flavoursome given the abv. Rather nice.
