Bottle at CGarvie tasting from Sourced, St Pancras. It pours cloudy deep brown with a medium beige head. The nose is earth, smoke, meaty, wheat, HP & bbq sauce. The taste is earth, smoke, roasted malt, toast, bitter cocoa, wood, dark fruit, raisin and caramel with a dry, woody finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Interesting and pretty well-executed!

Cask at LBA event. It pours near black with a bubbly beige head. The nose is rich roasted malt, coffee, earth, liquorice and black tea. The taste is roasted malt, earth, liquorice, burnt toast, black tea and moderate bitterness with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. The tea comes through pretty well. Rather flavoursome stuff!

33cl bottle from Alesbymail. Label says 5%. GYLE 53. Hazy, dark orange, thick head. Aroma has baking soda, tropical fruits, overall quite light aroma. Taste is quite musty, lemon, exotic fruity, pineapples, caramel. Long fruity finish. Excellent flavor, not really that usual APA, but more musty somehow. Medium bodied. My first from this brewery.

330ml bottle. Cloudy ochre golden colour with average to huge, frothy, diminishing, white head. Citrusy and herbal aroma with bath salt character, notes of lavender, rosemary, thyme. Taste is dry to bitter, sourish, herbal notes are way more cautious. Hmmm...

Cask at Euston Tap, London on 5th April 2013. Thickly brown with thin tan ring and acing bands. Richly malty aroma. Lemony citric hops and roasted malts in-mouth, with touch of smoke.Roasty malts abound in finish which also has a delcate background bitterness. Smooth yet engaging mouthfeel and medium body.

Cask ale, half pint at Euston Tap. Opaque, coal black body under a decent tan-coloured head. Dark chocolate nose, slightly roasted. Impression of earth and ash, as well. Well blended taste character of cocoa, coffee grounds and bittersweet dark fruits towards the finish. Very fresh mouth feel. Fine bodied and quite easy to drink. Tasty porter (London, 10.04.2013).

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the Euston Tap. Pours hazy yellow-gold with a fine, creamy white head. Dry citrus aroma, light peach, pineapple. Tasty flavor, moderate sweetness, juicy citrus fruits, peach, lemon, tangerine, pineapple and apricot. Light bodies with fine carbonation. Clean finish, slight pale malts and bread, more juicy citrus fruits. Delicious stuff. Understated and super drinkable.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Sourced St. Pancras. Pours lightly cloudy, red-brown with a large, frothy beige head. The aroma holds pleasant smoked malts with yeasty bread. Light to medium sweet flavor with darkened bread, mellow smoke, light tangy fruits, mild leafy bitterness. Light bodied with average to high carbonation. Moderate sweetness to finish with further smokiness, wheat, yeasty brown bread. Like a smokey hefeweizen. Interesting and very decent.

Bottle at home London - picked up at Sourced. Pours clearish, deep brown with a moderate, creamy beige cap. Quite a lot of burnt pine in the nose, a bit of chocolate, toasty bread. Medium sweet flavor with sturdy burnt pine bitterness, earth, baking cocoa, burnt sugars. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Modest piney resins to finish, burnt toast, earth and grass, strong roast. Very solid stuff overall. The best thing I’ve had from this brewery.
