Description
Emile Vanhonsebrouck and his wife Louise De Poorter founded the Sint Jozef brewery in Ingelmunster. In 1922 the brothers Paul and Ernest Van Honsebrouck take over the brewery from their mother. In 1953 Luc Van Honsebrouck (son of Paul) becomes director. Luc realizes that the small Sint Jozef brewery isn't able to compete with the large pils breweries. He therefore decides to concentrate on the production of an old brown beer, naming it Bacchus, and he changes the name of the brewery to Vanhonsebrouck. The St-Louis Gueuze and Kriek were officially launched in 1958. In 2009 Xavier Vanhonsebrouck succeeds his father Luc. In 2016 the doors of the old brewery in Ingelmunster are permanently closed. The new site in Emelgem is now home to a brand new, fully integrated brewery, with the equipment to produce all of the Vanhonsebrouck beers. In the meantime Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck becomes the new official name.

From one beer shop, place de l'Aligre, Paris, opening and trying this bottle, yeasterday, at home after to buy some products for Christmas at Aligro. Too sweet at the beginning but it was becoming better at the final, sugar, malty, smooth, fruity, plum. 02.12.2022

Bottle. Very light red, gold color with no head. Aroma is like funky fruit. Taste is a funky, cherry with banana after taste.

Bottle. Gold color with a nice head. Don’t understand the style. Really nasty taste and aroma. I really don’t care for sour beers.

Bottle. What a wonderful chocolate delight. Dark chocolate brown. Nice head. Aromas and taste of a wonderful chocolate trip that Willy Wonka would be proud of. Loved it.

At home, Lausanne, a classical Belgian Blonde, regular, not extraordinary, but it makes the job, sugar, malt, coriander, some hop. 25.10.2018, buying this beer at Paris, Place de l'Aligre.

Bottle at home. Pours deep brown with a ruby hue and an off-white head. Nose is cherries, a woody touch, some sweetness. Taste is slighlty sour and tart at first but then immediately followed by an overhwlming, seemingly artificial sweetness that lasts into the finish where it's met again with a slight tartness. Light but full body, average carbonation. Misses the funk, and there's way too much sweetness. Meh.
