This was poured into a chalice.
The appearance was a semi-hazy bronzed yellow color with a slight transparency about it. Some carbonation was seen rising at a moderate pace. Film of white foamy head dissipated into oblivion. No lace.
The aroma had some butterscotch/light caramel, dried floral bits, banana, pear, leather, basement and white bread.
The flavor did a decent job of blending but somehow for a Tripel, I was hoping for that Belgian spice which never showed up. Not much of an aftertaste, somewhat malty, but the finish was fairly quick with the floral hop portions.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a semi-sessionable sort of feel along my tongue. Carbonation felt fine. ABV did seem a bit under than what’s projected by the brewer.
Overall, the feel is the best thing about this beer. I have to wonder if I got an old bottle, but then again I always thought Tripels could age well.

On tap at bier thirty. Pours out amber topped with a small head. Nose is sweet caramel malt some toffee and vanilla. Taste is more of the nice sweet malts some wheat and a grain end.

Bottle at the RateBeer DC April Fool’s Tasting. Black with light tan head. Aromas of roasty notes, dark chocolate. Tastes of caramel, roasty notes, chocolate. Medium-full body with a dry finish.

12oz bottle, at the April Fools Day DC Ratebeer tasting. Poured a black-as-oil color, smooth with a small tan head. Aroma was chocolate, roasted malts. Coffee comes through a bit, lots or roasted malt character. Lots of smoke here. Black pour with decent head. Some caramel and a little musk like a packed bush taxi in the heat. 355ml can into pint glass. Pours a golden bronze with an enormous white head. Medium carbonation with tiny bubbles. Nose has cardboard, pepper, wood shavings, doughnuts, dark fruit, dark chocolate. There’s a lot going on. Quite light in texture with a cleansing taste. Finish is subtly bitter with a herbal/mint edge to it. Nice understated APA, easy drinking.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours clear gold with a white head. Aroma of light malts and mild fruitiness. Taste follows nose, with some biscuit and hay. Finish is mildly sweet, mildly bitter. A fairly bland beer overall - was expecting something with more personality given it’s labeled as a winter ale.

P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, boozy finish. O- This beer makes sure you know it’s barrel aged. Lots of booze in here. Also a unique spice on the finish that I can only associate most closely with cinnamon. A good beer but I don’t think it quite warrants the ratings it gets.

Copper with a white head. Very nice balance of sweet malt and fresh citrus. Decently bitter without being harsh. A very good, balanced, enjoyable IPA.

Tap at Hops on Birch. Flagstaff. Colour is clear dark brown with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Some chocolate, some harshness and malts. Watery and boring.
