Description
Since 2008, we're running the Beer Freakshow, pushing the boundaries of the Italian craft beer scene. If you do not do it our way, we do not do. Classic styles and innovative beers, Belgian or American traditions: on the whole, the mark of Toccalmatto. Luppolature exotic and extreme experiments on yeast and fermentation, exploring new tastes and flavors using fruits, spices, aged in cask. Always and only beers of character.

In 2017 the brewery was sold to the Belgian entrepreneur Eric Coppieters and his Brasserie 28.

2013-02-11, bottle from the brewery, batch 08010, bb 12.12.09, 4 years old, 7-4-7-3-14=35
Cloudy deep blond color with large frothy head. The aroma is spicy, with some Bretts, light bitter oranges, and maybe mold. Smooth mouthfeel, highly carbonated, very dry; hard malts flavor, with some astringency, spices, orange peel, mild Bretts, very light acidity; the bitterness is a bit too much.

Hazy blond color, very nice perlage; medium head. Spicy aroma, coriander, Belgian yeast, light Brett. Smooth mouthfeel, sweetish malt flavor, that mixes well with the tangy spiciness, and with a touch of bitter oranges. Very strong bitterness. Modern Saison, bold; fascinating.

Hazy blond color. Nice, delicate spice aroma. Nice fruity and puckery aroma. Lean body, some malt, simple, good hopping. Refreshing; good.

Black color; small head. Very nice aroma of smoke, some paper, wood; very nice. Medium body, in the bottle it shows more roasted malt and coffee than chocolate; nice delicate smoke, some liquorice, correct bitterness, with the feeling getting drier at the end. Very good.

Color is almost black. Wonderful aroma, deep chocolate, smoke, ashes, even traces of vanilla, roasted malt, lightly vinous. Medium body, good, dry, chocolate flavor, correct bitterness. Original (for mixing chocolate and smoke), very good.

Very dense, stable, nearly black-brown head. Roasted, coffee, slightly sourish, lactic, coffeemilk. Ink, black chocolate; dry, wry woody taste with again loads of coffee-like malts. Fulminous alcohol, warming the throat as a spirit; very slick and viscous. Very outspoken coffee flavour, for the reast rather classical I.S. Special thanks to the newborn brewer for letting me have this one!
