Description

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Bierhandel Willems en Zoon. BBF 21/09/2014. Good price. Touch amber orange, instantly gone big white bubbles until you are left with nothing. Slightly metallic nose, esters, sticky caramel, very thick syrup-like brown sugar, apple juice. Taste is a mix of maple syrup, brown sugar, spices, bitter esters, something metallic, empty syrup & very overtly boozy, almost like, wth? Higher carb. lightly watery. Bit of a mix of things that I like and didn’t like. At least somewhat interesting.

2/I/14 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 21/IX/14 (2014-7)

Clear orange beer, aery irregular white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet, almonds, spicy, sweet malts, coriander. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sweet start, orange peel, malty, alcohol, sugar, soft bitterness. Aftertaste: very spicy, coriander, some cloves, bit sugary, little bitter, chemical touch, bit nutty. Nice tripel beer, I dig it.

Bottle @ ansjelaah NYE13. Pink/purple/ruby colour with a small pink head. Smells green twigs, raspberry, wood, brown leafs, some cork. Kinda weird but nice. Tastes sourish, raspberry, cranberry, forrest fruits, fruity, some wood. I’m pretty sure they’ve used real fruits and not a syrup. Medium body, soft body.

33 cl. bottle sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2013. Dark reddish with a touch brown, tanned head. Nose carries a touch mould, fermenting dark fruits, sweet spices, caramel, pretty sweet. Taste is bitter upfront, something slightly upfront, bitter overripe fruits, herbal, touch dark honey, caramel, pretty sweet. Thicker body, okay but something feels slightly off here for me. RIS & not BSA currently for style?

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. A bit hazy yellow to orange color, small to medium sized white to off - white head. Aroma is lightly malty and sweetish. Taste lightly malts, sweetish, yeasty. Medium body and carbonation. Hmm not really a tripel I’d say but an average Belgian (Strong) Ale imo.

Bottle @ benzai. Slightly hazy yellow to orange colour with a small to medium sized white head. Smells slightly malty, slightly herbal, fresh, some orange peal.. Pretty decent tripel smell. Tastes very malty, very sweet, alcolic sweet, sugary. Very mediocre taste. Too bad, since the smell was fine. Medium body, nice carbo.
