Description

Small whitish head, with some lace all the same; clear metallic-orange beer. Spicy and garden herbs, vegetal. Bit gassy nose. More spices, sweet-vegetal as partly cooked carrot or parsnip, hint at human sweat. Finish has some CO² reinforced acidity, subtle and getting more dry gradually. Feels more carbonated than it looks. Slight slickness. Pleasing, not very strong tripel - or a well-hidden ABV. The bitterness is very late indeed, I’m still searching.

Belgian stout made at Kroontje but for a beer company called Belleketels apparently, with coarse, stable, off-white head and very dark brown, almost blackish colour. Pretty complex and agreeably perfumed aroma of vanilla, liquorice, candied fruits, coffee grounds; full palate, sweet and a bit sticky, rich and well-balanced maltiness, spicy notes, light roasted bitterness in the finish - another Scotch in disguise. Anyway, for a brewery this new, this is a very good attempt. Curious to see what else they will come up with.

33cl bottle: BBD 15th Apr 16. Brought back from Antwerp by my father, we shared this and the four other beers he returned with on 28th Sep 14. Clear orange body with a good, large head, which did not really last too long. The nose was sweet, spicy and malty. Sweet start to the taste too slight orange feel to the mainly malty flavours, the alcohol was noticeable along with a trailing light bitterness. OK and the only new beer from my dad’s little Antwerp haul. Nice thought though.

Medium to good, dense cream to light-tan head over very deep-brown beer. End of bottle serious yeast. Creamy nose with some chocolate; perfumey, dark malts if not roasted. Suikerbonen , thick green leaves. Bitterish, with bitter and sweet chocolate, and some roastiness after all. Pretty dry, despite some general sweetness. Again leafy flavours, herbal. At least medium bodied, quite slick, well carbonated. If this is really 10.5% ABV, the alcohol remains miraculously hidden. Certainly not half bad. Drinks away dangerously, but it is not really a festive ale, nor an I. Stout.

at beerweekend de lambiekstoempers 2014 . Pours clear blonde , huge white head . Smell is bit sour, funky , brett . Taste is bitter , pure brett . Overcarbonated . Very intense on the brett-side . Apparenly, this is not the way it should be , yet I drank it like this , and I liked it

Pours slightly hazy brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, almonds, walnuts and burned plastic. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long nutty and caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is fizzy

Bottle. A clear, dark amber to brown beer topped by a dense, finger-thick beige head. Loads of yeast and some chalk on the nose, with some caramel and coffee. Roasted malts too. The flavor is equally yeasty, with some nuts, caramel and rye bread. Sourish and warming on the palate, full-bodied and effervescent, with a little bitterness chiming in towards the finish. Not much of a beer this one. 140830
