Description

An unclear orange beer with a huge white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of coriander and alcohol. The flavor is sweet spicy combined with notes of oranges, leading to a dry end. The alcohol burns slightly in the mouth and throat.

Bottled (BB 06/2006)
A bit hazy pale yellow, decent cloudy white head. Nose has yeast and old leather jacket aroma, maybe some herbs too. Hoppy and citrusy flavors burst into your mouth in the beginning. Smoothly carbonated and dry palate. Long acidy and lemony aftertaste. Does not show its 9% but alcohol gives very nice backbone to palate. Extremely well-balanced tripel.

Dark ruby red, vanishing brown head. Strong butterscotch (diacetyl) nose, slightly sour. Slightly sour, carbonated mouthfeel. Also flavor has some diacetyl and candi sugar and vinegar. I wonder if this patch was ok or not.

Bottled. Hazy golden with rich head and some sediment. Aroma of unripe, fresh raspberries. Fruity saccharine sweetness balanced by lactic acid and some grassy hops. Lively mouthfeel. Complex.

Beautiful color, dark mahogany with red sparkles; small creamy head. The aroma is fruity, moderately sour, creamy, and there is some vinous wood too. Good mouthfeel quite round, as it still has some pleasant sweetness; malt flavor corrected by the typical Verhaeghe winey sour and fruity touch. The bitterness is quite low, and the final medium short. Complex and beautifully aged.

Clean dark amber color; creamy head. Original aroma: malt, sourness, cherries, toffee, caramel, cookies… Smooth, sweet and lightly sour, very similar to Duchesse de Bourgogne (therefore good!). Dangerously drinkable!

A deep red beer with an fine head. The aroma is sharp, fruity and sweet - probably stemming from a mixture of wild- and controlled fermentation. The flavor is sweet in the beginning, then sharp - which lingers a long time, and the aftertaste is sharp and sour. A good beer, but not as good as I had expected after trying The Duchesse.

Amber color, beautiful head. Very nice aroma, malty, fruity (peaches, ananas, raspberry), wood, sweet, candies. Dry mouthfeel, woody; in the final there is a residual sweetness, followed by the bitterness. The taste is not so much interesting as the aroma.
[2002-01-07, 9-3-7-3-14] Amber ale. Fresh fruity aroma, wonderful. Bitter, medium dry, good body. Long final, it lacks some aromatic hop.

Golden color, generous head, nice perlage. Strong Tripel aroma, with white sugar, light ananas, carbonic gas, some malt. Strong mouthfeel, some malty sweetness in the front, balanced by a very light sourness and the bitterness coming out more at the end; a light wood and cork character. Really enjoyable, yet not mature enough.
[2002-01-07, 7-4-8-4-16] Blond ale. Nice aroma, of grass and coriander. Powerful brew! nuts, spices, hop, alcohol. Strong and long palate, bitter and a bit acid.
