Description
Real cider and perry from the county of Herefordshire in England.

Oliver's make a selection of fine Herefordshire ciders and perries with an emphasis on "balance" and "character" coupled with "drinkability".

Based around the spontaneous ferment of selected varieties of cider apple and perry pear from fruit grown in Herefordshire and the surrounding 3 Counties orchards.

Nominally referred to as "minimal intervention", we strive to "take what the fruit gives", respecting the great heritage and traditions of the past but with an eye to innovating for the future. What that really means is we mill and press great fruit, expose the juice to marauding and hungry wild yeasts and then for our part blend and bottle the resulting ferments.

From the producer at Bristol Slow Food Market, as "draught perry single varietal Blakeney Red medium perry" at 5.5% ABV. Silvery green in colour with no carbonation. Slightly tannic, eating pear aroma. Very easy drinking, with plenty of pear juice, a touch of skin and medium sweet finish. Very good.

Pale silvery/gold with decent carbonation. Spritzy perry with some slightly tangy fruit, a hint of skin and lingering medium finish. A great summer drink with the alcohol dangerously well hidden. Good.

Bottle bought from the producer at Bristol Slow Food Market. Deep gold with moderate carbonation. Aroma of fresh, slightly spicy apple juice. As described, very easy drinking with loads more fruit and a welcoming touch of dryness in the finish. Perhaps a tad too sweet for me, but a well crafted product nonetheless.

Polycask at Merton Summer Beer Festival, 17-07-10 also a taster at Olivers, Ocle Pychard, Herefordshire, 10-07-10 Pours gold great clarity. Full of juicy fruit, wonderful apple nose but its the lovely sweet juicy apples in the mouth, there is a nice tang and a slim dryness but this is dangerously drinkable. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Picked up from Tom Olivers, 03-07-10 A predictably decent cider from Olivers, pours hazy lemony/gold slight haze, tangy and a little more rustic and simplistic than some Olivers offerings but damn drinkable all the same, has that nice curly appley tang to it, nice little zappyness to it. I never took any notes for this as it was at the end of a busy night of drinking but I enjoyed this and will get some more, good stuff. A6 A3 T7 P4 Ov13 3.3

BCA from Millets Farm, Frilford, Oxon, 31-05-10 consumed the same day Pours rich gold, its got a nice warm look to it great clarity. Lovely aroma, slight oaked agedness spirity appleyness, calvados like maybe? Taste is crisp and yet also quite smooth, tart and yet softened, nice oakiness, good clean flavours but everything integrates so well. Another corker from my favourite cider producer.
