Description

Nice orange colour, a lot of foam but it disappears quickly. Sweet complex nose. Fruity, notes of raisins, white wine, plums. Light bitter and warm alcoholic finish. Nice beer!

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, copper to brown colour with a mid-sized tanned foamy head. Yeasty, dried fruity aroma with notes of toasted malt, a tad syrupy with hints of caramel and leather. Sugary sweet flavour, full bodied with a soft carbonation. Syrupy malty and dried fruity, raisin-like taste; slightly sticky and sweet malty finish with a well-integrated but warming alcoholic strength. 05.II.13

Very hazy amber beer, good off white head. Light semi dry palate, a little soft. Bitterish brett flavour contrasts with nice hops - bitterish orange, smooth peach and lesser tropical fruits. A little minerals and then building bitterness. Really nicely joined up and satisfying beer.

Bottle of 4 years old. Cloudy orange colour. Minimal head. Sweet nose. Notes of honey, raisins, stone fruit. Nice balance between sweet and bitter. Warm alcoholic finish. This beer was very good and it aged very well. It’s a pity they don’t brew it anymore.

330ml bottle - a cloudy orangey brown colour, the cream fizzy head soon goes, makes it look rather unappealing. Got some seriously sweet fruits in the nose, molasses and caramel there as well. The first taste is a warmth, treacle, nuts, malts, ends quite long, a bit of bitter sweetness there. A bit disappointing really, I did expect a lot from this, but the ABV just overwhelms it with a boozy overkill.

Thx. to tderoeck (Tim) for this one // 33 cl. bottle sampled @ Tim’s De Molen & assorted beers tasting // Belgian wit for export made by the brewery with probably the most confusing name issues // hazy, very hazy muddy milk brown with some bubbles for a head // smells of sweet, old muddy Belgian yeast, lightly lactic, old spices, stale & soggy // this is clearly not the youngest of bottle // 3 years maybe more? // since the brewer opted not to put a BBF date on this one, I can assume that it is still in perfect condition according to the brewer & will always be so // taste is bitter lactic spices, old Belgian yeast, soggy bread, herbs, old peel, band-aid, medicine, old yoghurt, lots of chalk & plaster // strongly yeasty mouthfeel // this is one of those old, small brewery Belgian // ok in the sample that I got, glad I didn’t have to drink a whole bottle of this

Very hazy brown colour, white head. Aroma of yeast, moulding cheese, like a Gouda you left too long in the fridge, some herbal notes. Spicy flavour, cheese notes.
Quite disappointing, I have a higher esteem of this brewery. Guess it was infected, warrants a re-rate.
(From 33cL bottle at the DMT @ Tim’s living, Gent. Thanks for sharing, tderoeck!)

30/XII/12 - 33cl bottle @ home: De Molen & assorted beers tasting - BB: n/a (2012-1406) Thanks to Johan for the bottle!

Very cloudy murky beige muddy looking beer (as it is a witbier, I made sure the yeast was mixed with the beer before pouring), small aery off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very smelly, yeast, honey, cheesy, sweet, bit flowery. MF: ok carbon, full to medium body. Taste: pretty sourish start, some citrus, dry, bitter yeasty. Aftertaste: bitter, little herbal, yeasty, some spices.
