Description

Thank you! Sampled 750 ml. bottle @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2015. Dark brown, mocha bubbles. Nose is empty licorice, touch varnish, licorice, light herbal bitterness. Taste is herbal varnish, touch dark cherries, cloves, leaves, syrup, bit messy. Touch empty, bit fizzy & a bit messy beer. Not getting the hop profile you would expect with something labeled as a BIPA. Doesn’t do too much for me.

Thank you! Sampled 750 ml. bottle @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2015. Apparently features Mt. Hood according to the brewer, I assume other hops were used as well. Dark brown, touch black, small mocha bubbles. Nose is licorice, candy, sugar, light resinous hops, almost hint of cheese but largely in the back. Taste is sugar, licorice, candy, sweet dark fruit, syrupy, herbal, lots of syrup, light herbal hop in the back, light dark cheese, mocha. Syrupy, dash powdery body. Not really a BIPA in the usual sense, a nice beer, almost more porter-like.

Sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2014. [Forgotten rating from last year’s festival, only noticed it now as I was searching for the 2015 edition] -- Clear golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly hops, nicely bitter, grassy, hayish. Quite nice. Decent body and carbonation.

Bottle at the Essen Winter Beer Festival, 2015. Poured a murky dark brown with a big frothy light tan head. The aroma is light coffee, light nettle hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a woody hop, liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation and a bubbly mouthfeel.

sampled @ “2de Bierproeffestival van De Dijleschuimers”. Pours rather unclear blonde, small white head. Smell is a bit sweet, notes of hop. Taste is nicely grainy, ambermalts. Decently bitter, sharp, yeasty notes. I like this a lot !

750 ml. bottle sampled @ “2de Bierproeffestival van De Dijleschuimers”. Sparkling lighter golden, small white bubbles for a head. Nose is mineral, overly so, green weeds, watery, chemical lemon,… Taste is watery, weird overly mineral profile, sparkling water, sugar, dull mineral, lemon,… Dull at best,… Fizzy, watery,… Odd, not liking this sparkling water mineral profile. This one is lost on me. Not a fan.

750ml bottle

Pours pitch black with a thick head. Aroma of licorice, earthy malts, hints of roastiness and spices. Taste is sweet, spicy and sweet with some licorice, earthiness, loads of spices and weird notes. Finish is earthy, sweet and spicy with some licorice and lingering artificial sweetness. Quite weird and untypical.
