Draft @ ZBF 2012: black with a small tanned head // smell is just very, very roasted & ground coffee // ditto taste basically very roasted & freshly grounded coffee, touch roasted malts, hint of liquorish, cocoa, lasting coffee bitterness in the mouth // touch dry // simple but effective & interesting

15cl sample @ ZBF’12. A scotch? a smoked beer? you tell me. Ambrée, col effervescent blanc/beige. Arôme est fumé léger tourbe et un houblon en retrait. Pas trop certain du style ici, ci le cas est d’une scotch ale alors on manque le coche. Le profile fumé malté est bien agréable, sur un côté très belge qui parait un peu fin en bouche et loin des 9.5%, houblon noble en fin de bouche pour une amertume sèche.

15cl sample @ ZBF’12. Brune foncée/cuivre, col mi-épais beige. Arôme de café léger, grillé avec ce bouquet rappelant le vieux café. En bouche, café est agréable, bien que après la version de Broeder Jacob ceci est bien en retrait le tout sur un profile typique belge. Parait pas vraiment le volume indiqué, reste agréable avec un profile malt qui aurait pu être plus en avant.

Clear dark reddish brown beer, small beige head, bit stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet mocha, coffee, bit meaty, sour berries, humus, dark chocolate. MF: too much carbon, light body. Taste: some coffee, they didn't lie about that, woody, bitter hops, cocoa powder, sour berries, roasted meaty flavours. Aftertaste: coffee and bitter hops, weird meaty things going on.

Bottle 750ml.Clear medium to dark red amber colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, spicy, light to moderate rubber - plastic, light to moderate yeasty, phenol, citrus. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, moldy, phenol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft - fizzy. [20120331]

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours an almost clear amber with a creamy beige head. Odd farty aroma. Medium body, some sweet caramel, phenols and a lightly fusty farmhouse touch. Ends fairly dry and bitter. 310312
