Description
With a foundation in homebrewing in 1992, Paul Kavulak set about to experiment within a hobby that would prove both entertaining and, at times, refreshing. Over a period of roughly 13 years, and with the able assistance of his wife Kim, this activity led to the opening of the Nebraska Brewing Company’s brewpub in Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, Nebraska, on November 17, 2007. A new production brewery and taproom were opened in January of 2014. Located on the south side of the Omaha Metro, but still a large part of the Omaha Craft Beer scene.

Location: Draft at Rattle 'N' Hum, 7/14/10
Aroma: Wheat, yeast, bubblegum, banana, and light spice on the nose
Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a small white head
Flavor: The taste is pretty much what you'd expect from the nose, wheat, sweetness, and some spice
Palate: It is fairly fizzy on the mouth with a light-medium body, and it has a slightly dry finish
Overall Impression: Overall, I thought this was a fairly solid example of the style. A better then average wheat beer. I am as surprised as anyone, but Nebraska actually seems to be producing some very solid beers.

Location: Dry Hopped - Cask at Bierkraft, 5/30/10
Aroma: The nose has a fresh hoppy front, as that fades, nuts and earth, toast, and chocolate take over
Appearance: The look is creamy/hazy brown, lasting creamy beige head
Flavor: The taste is malty, quite nutty, roasted malts, minimal bitterness
Palate: The palate is very smooth, with low carbonation
Overall Impression: My first beer rating from Nebraska! The dry hops are only really apparent in the initial nose, taste is solid and malty, with a nice palate. Good, not great

32oz growler at the DC Local tasting. Totally transparent gold with very little cloudy white head. Harsh aroma, banana, clove, bubble gum. Flavor is sweet, tropical fruits, banana, pineapple. Watery finish. A big miss in my opinion.

Growler courtesy of Andy, thanks. Very pale yellow, rapidly disappearing white head. Aroma and taste of applesauce. Simple and straightforward. Definitely the best Nebraska-made beer I have ever tasted in my entire life.

Bottle while at Rattle n Hum. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a strong, fluffy white head. Nose of oak, Belgian yeast, funk, some slight hops. The Belgian funk strikes my palate the most, but there are also some acidic citrus notes - pineapple and orange - along with some wine alcohol flavor. Finish is lightly bitter with some mild tartness, and dry. Medium bodied with average to low carbonation. Pretty nice.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pretty good, but overall it struck me as more of a Pale Ale than an IPA. Very faint, earthy hops on the nose, mostly light and sweet malts. A bit of bitterness in the flavor, some mild dirty hops and a nice caramel malt character. Some hops in the finish. Well balanced but restrained. Some people might love this, but I think my palette has become accustomed to a much hoppier IPA.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Does the style justice. Pours a slightly hazy yellow with an ample, fluffy white head. Pleasant wheat and yeast aroma, notes of clove. Full flavor with good breadiness, banana and bubblegum. Sweet and crisp. Medium bodied with high carbonation, this brew is filling, refreshing and satisfying.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Really hoppy for a Pale Ale, but I guess that’s the American part. Pours an orange-yellow with a medium, white head. Nose is heavy cascade hops with some pine and citrus. More hop in the flavor, with a bit of sweet malt to balance. Medium-light in body, nice carbonation - an easy drinker. Mild earthy bitterness in the finish.

Bottle of the Reserve (Chardonnay Barrel) thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a hazy golden body and a large white head. Aroma of butter, chardonnay barrel, grape and belgian yeast. Flavor comes across quite nicely, wow! Fruity, barrel, tannins, hops, pine, tropical fruit, pineapple. Creamy carbonation, bitter and tannic finish. Very nice.
