Description
Love Lane Brewing is based in the heart of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, voted the “coolest” district in the UK. We’re keeping the city’s proud brewing heritage alive, with a new brewery and distillery.

In 2016, we began the transformation of our Liverpool base, renovating an old rubber factory into a 18,000 hectolitre Brewery, capable of brewing 3.2 million pints. Our family of beers and gins are all made under one roof.

Liverpool Craft was founded in 2011. Liverpool Craft bought in the Higsons Brewery name in 2018 at he same time the brewery changed name to Love Lane Brewery. Brewing started at the current venue in 2019. Cask beers are produced using the Higson's name, keg beers using Love Lane.

[44cl can from Home Bargains.] A glossy peaty brown pour with a thin pale tan head; chocolate malt aroma; lactic mouth feel with some chocolate and a strong malty taste with bitterness from the roast; then a dry finish with a touch of alcohol in the throat and stomach
. A solid Extra Stout.

[44cl can from Home Bargains, Bracknell.] A hazy straw coloured pour with a loose white head; tropical fruit aroma; crisp tropical fruit taste; and citrus peel bitterness too finish. A tasty IPA.

The Liver Bird is famously on the crest of Liverpool Football Club, however it was their city rivals Everton exactly 40 years ago today winning for Merseyside in the European Cup Winners' Cup Final against Rapid Vienna. A very steady stout enhanced by a very good body and mouthfeel, all disguising its strength, with a milkiness to its taste also contributing here, it's light roasted in both aroma and taste but still flavoursome.

Third of a pint, part of a flight at the source on 14th May 2025, hand-pulled. Hazed golden body, wispy white head. Both piney and citrusy, but it was only 3.4% ABV so not really much going on.

[44cl can from Home Bargains, Bracknell.] An attractive golden amber pour with a loose cream coloured head; orange aroma; jammy malt body, perhaps over pasteurised with some bitter marmalade; and a chewy malt finish.

[44cl can from Home Bargains.] A hazy lemon coloured pour with a fast fading white head; unappealing musty corn grain aroma; very fruity in the mouth with lots of pineapple and grapefruit, but overwhelmingly acidic; then some sweet grain and pineapple in a sticky finish. Not good.

Can from local Home Bargains store – drank at home. Pours golden yellow with a small, transient, frothy off-white head. There’s a bit of an off-putting aroma of malts and herbs mixed with boiled cabbage. In the mouth it is quite sweet but with a little underlying sharpness. Flavour has malts, floral hops, honey and hints of herbs and teacake. Finish is quite dry. This is decent – better than expected.

Pleasant but delicate citrus aroma, dry in taste with biscuit notes and a bit of pine, pine and resin bitterness is very delicate. Drinkable, rather average but the price works wonders.
