Description
Harvey's is the oldest independent Brewery in Sussex. Founded by John Harvey in 1790 it still remains a privately owned family business, with the eighth generation currently working there. We pride ourselves on the craft of our brewing, environmental credentials, local distribution, local charitable activities and loyal staff. Widely known for our Best Bitter, our beers and pubs can be found in and around the South East. As a Regional Brewer we tend not distribute further than 60 miles from the brewery premises, however our beers can be purchased via our online shop shop.harveys.org.uk and at our Brewery Shop in Lewes. Bottle from brewery shop. I had to have this when I saw it advertised. The best classic ale brewery in Sussex, the best brewery in East Sussex and the best non-lambic brewery in Brussels working together - awesome collaboration. Let's see. Floral, elderflower aroma. Some pub lager notes. Flat gold look. Taste is a bit hard to describe and odd final profile that is very bitter in a cloying way. Not really sure how to describe this but disappointing it must be said...

Cask at the John Harvey Tavern, Lewes. Poured a mostly clear mahogany colour with a round bubbly off-white head. The aroma is big herbal light red berry fruits. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, somewhat rich, earthy, red berry fruit, raisin, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Poor pour and looks like flat coke in the glass. No real aroma and this does not taste like beer, more like a malty slightly sweet drink. Really watery and ended up being a drain pour. Really bad.

I had one of these a while ago and I really didn't dig it, so I thought I'd give it another try. And I still don't dig it! It's got a backbone of sourness and sour is not my thing..... at all. Looks good in the tankard though.

Cask at the St Albans beer festival 2024. A clear bright golden coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is earthy, classic eggy Harvey's yeast notes, pine. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, earthy Harvey's yeast, green apple. Not bad.
