Harvey's is the oldest independent Brewery in Sussex. Founded by John Harvey in 1790 it still remains a privately owned family business, with the eighth generation currently working there. We pride ourselves on the craft of our brewing, environmental credentials, local distribution, local charitable activities and loyal staff. Widely known for our Best Bitter, our beers and pubs can be found in and around the South East. As a Regional Brewer we tend not distribute further than 60 miles from the brewery premises, however our beers can be purchased via our online shop shop.harveys.org.uk and at our Brewery Shop in Lewes. Bottled. The aroma is lovely hoppy. The color is amber but it has a flat head. The flavor is fantastic, it is sweet and slightly hoppy - and ends on a lovely bitterness from a great hop. It has a good palate for a British beer, is that the 5.5 ABV?

2000 Bottle: This beer reminded me a lot of the 23%DFHWWS, even though the ABV is much lower in this 11.2oz bottle. This was probably my first corked Imperial Stout. Pours a black tar color with an ultra thin light beige head. No real lacing to speak of. Aroma will knock your socks off with licorice, chocolate and port wine. Full bodied flavor with a great roasted aspect. Flavors of malt, alcohol, spice and coffee come in wave after wave. This beer also has a very long and roasty burnt cedar finish. The only way to enjoy this beer is SLOWLY.

Elizabethan Ale looks like an apple cider and has the aroma of a good doppelbock, with a heavy prune scent. The flavor reflects an interesting mix of doppelbock and barleywine characteristics: prune and raisins dominate at first, followed by sugary malts. The body is syrupy and rich, thicker than the typical doppelbock but right in line with barleywines (unintentional rhyme). A very nice beverage, but I do recommend moderation: this is too syrupy sweet for session consumption.

Clean orange color; frothy head. Nice hop aroma, grassy. Hoppy pale ale, quite fruity and delicate, easy to drink. Good, aromatic, long palate.

Cask conditioned: An orange beer with no head. It has a slight aroma of fruit. The flavor is a pretty dry hoppy aroma - with a very well rounded sweetness. Really a great beer with a fantastic hoppy flavor.

Dark brown color, shortlasting head. Syrupy, caramelly perfume. Caramelly malts in the taste, together with liquorice and syrup. Not the best christmas ale i''ve had, actually one of the worst.
