Description
Steel City Brewing is a brewing company with a very new world outlook on life! Rather than buying our own brewery - with all the associated cost and hassle that entails - we have decided, initially at least, to become what's known in Europe as a "Cuckoo" brewery... We started off doing our first brews at The Brew Company, before capacity issues saw us move to Little Ale Cart, where we spent three years proving even the most Heath-Robinson brew kit can be used to make good beer! We then outgrew the kit moved to Toolmakers brewery, before moving again to Lost Industry in 2016.
When we started we were (and still are) huge fans of hops and there just weren't enough brewers in the UK using them, even though that sounds ridiculous in today's beer world. So, rather than moaning into our beer, we thought we'd do something about it and brew some of our own! Over time as the beer scene evolved, there was less need for our style of hoppy beers since everyone was brewing with them so we evolved too and widened our style portfolio.

Cask. Shakespeares, Sheffield. Hazy, dark red. Bubbly, off white head. Spicy, chewy, brown bread malts. Some fusty hop. Bit of an English marmalade aroma. Taste is light, spicy bitter. Some sweet on the lips. Smooth palate, with a little acidic bite. Finishes long, spicy bitter. Quaffable and tasty.

Cask. Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Hazy, dark brown. Bubbly, messy, sticky, tan head. Chocolately, roast coffee bean malts. Grassy hop. Bit of a brûléed grapefruit thing going on. I think I get the mango, but probably because I’m looking for it. Drinks smooth, full, with the mango / papaya now coming through, providing a juicy, sweet element. Finishes long, light bitter. Some of that sweetness hangs on until the end. Nice one.

Bottle shared at the Cotteridge Convention 2015. Pours light hazy yellow with a foamy white. The nose holds dry citrus and white pepper. Light sweet flavor with heavy minerals, lemon rind, hay. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly sweet on the finish with more heavy and distracting minerals, some pithy citrus. Not bad.

Cask @ Grove Inn, Huddersfield. Dark clear reddish-brown with a frothy off-white head. Strong but its taste feels quite thin with some pale malts evident in its nose and less in its taste - fused with a darker, almost roasted malts. Carries a light sweetness.
