Description
For nearly twenty five years, our mission here at Smuttynose has remained the same: to brew the best beer we can in a way we can be proud of. That includes honoring New England’s rich beermaking history, respecting our environment, and playing an active role in our community.

We value creativity, quality, authenticity and sustainability, but it really boils down to making great beers to enjoy with friends and family. We hope you love drinking our beers as much as we love brewing them. Cheers!

650ml bottle. Quasi black colour with small to average, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, cocoa, a minimally nutty and spicy touch of coconut, maple sirup, some caramel and treacle. Taste is roasty, chocolately dark malty, slightly sweet caramel malty, notes of chocolate, cocoa, some treacle and caramel, maple sirup, hints of coffee, grassy and piney, slightly citrusy hoppy notes with a mandarine and orange touch are integrated in a somehow oily mode. Oily-watery texture, soft palate, gentle but efficacious carbonation supports the hoppy influences.

Klasse!

This has been done by Night Shift (Ricky Weisse) Jacks Abby (Raspberry Lime Ricky). For me this probably about the same as those brews. Raspberry tartness, lasting sour cream of wheat, mild acid. Ends on lime juice.

$4.49 pint can, TW-SP. Slightly hazy golden-orange with a small yellowish head. Aroma is stale hops, resin... not pleasant. Flavor is resin, stale hops, light citrus. Very plain. Canned two months ago, so this must be what they were going for.

Sample from 2009 bottle during Blarney Wine Festival 2019 on 03/16/2019. Hazy amber-orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lace. Aroma of malt, fruit, caramel and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, dried fruit and earthy hop. The finish is sweet with a fig and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

9/10/15 vintage as referenced many times below. Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is clear amber-red with fair, lazy sparkle, ephemeral off-white ring of head with no lacing. Aroma is strong caramel and whiskey, hint of brown sugar. Taste is very sweet caramel and booze--bordering on medicinal--finish as candy. Palate is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation, mild numbing of the lips and sweet candy-like finish as noted above. Overall, I was expecting the booze to have mellowed out a bit by now and to be more complementary than so assertive. If you want a really sweet, boozy dessert beer then this would be exactly what the doctor ordered. If you're looking for something else, look for something else.

Can from a Lazy Dog Mostly clear dark pink in color with a tightly bubbled white head that has a touch of pink in it. Sour tart blueberry on the nose. Flavor follows well. Bright bubbly carbonation. Pretty tasty for a fruited kettle sour.
