Description
For nearly twenty five years, our mission here at Smuttynose has remained the same: to brew the best beer we can in a way we can be proud of. That includes honoring New England’s rich beermaking history, respecting our environment, and playing an active role in our community.
We value creativity, quality, authenticity and sustainability, but it really boils down to making great beers to enjoy with friends and family. We hope you love drinking our beers as much as we love brewing them. Cheers!

Taster pour at the brewery. Appearance is hazy, piss yellow in the sun, yellow/light brown in background light with minimal sparkle, small cap of head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong, sweet orange and candied sugar, along with strong malt balance. Taste is classic DIPA balance of caramel malt along with citrus balance. Certainly not bad but not like it hasn't been seen before--a slightly different wrinkle as it is not quite as resiny bitter and leans more toward orange citrus like the aroma and a stronger malt presence in the finish. Palate is medium bodied with smooth texture, average to lively carbonation and finish as taste mentioned above. Overall, good. Not earth-shattering but a competent version of classic DIPA with slightly more orange and maltiness.

Taster pour at the brewery. Appearance is clear, lightly hazy, pale yellow with exceptional sparkle, thin ring of off-white head. Aroma is nice citrus, tropical fruit, pineapple. Taste is initial dank bitter blast and crackery malt, then morphs into bittersweet grapefruit and citrus dominant over lighter tropical fruit. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, taste is more bitter than you'd expect from the aroma and is less tropical fruity, so could have been a little bit higher in my book but still enjoyable.

Pours hazy deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention leaving spider lacing. Sour tropical fruit aromas. Soft with sour caramel and dirty socks upfront turning to overripe fruit skin in the lasting finish.

Lillies, orange, apricot nose. Slightly hazy amber, medium head, good lace. Apricot and lemongrass. Medium body, soft carbonation. Great IPA but not meeting many of the characteristics of the New England subset. Maybe a little artificial too.
