Description
The philosophy of the brewery was from the start on based on the priority use of regional raw materials in order to perpetuate the brewing and agricultural tradition of the Nord Pas de Calais region. Thus, the range of ''Bières de Garde'' are brewed exclusively from hops from the Coophounord regional cooperative.

75cl bottle from Auchan, Calais. Chestnut colour with thick off white head. Yeasty, spicey malt aroma, which is great. Candy sugar and dry malt in mouth. Some nice raisiny furit. Quite good hop on the end. Bit of spice. Dry malt fruit is good. One of the better Noel Biere de Garde

75cl bottle from Carrefour, Calais. Deep brown colour with a touch of ruby and a beige thick lasting head. Yeast, toffee and hop aroma again, like the blond a bit of woodiness too. Lively in mouth with more of that distinctive woody flavour coming through. Hop is quite bitter on the end and there is some toffee that runs through the beer. Like the blond, the woody flavour is too strong an influence and it doesn’t give the toffee and hop enough chance to shine.

75cl bottle from Carrefour, Calais. Very deep gold colour with thick lasting white head. Woody, creamy, yeasty aroma. Dash of citrus hop. Soft in mouth, more woody yeast on end. Disappointing blond, not crisp nor fruity enough

75cl bottle from Carrefour, Calais. Deep gold with thick lasting white head. Yeast and hop aroma and a bit of lager malt too. Sweetish lager malt in mouth. Finish is a bit dull. OK lager style biere de garde.I expected this to be hoppier. Bit disappointed

75cl bottle from Auchan, Calais. Deep brown colour with some russet. Lasting beige head. Chocolate and hop aroma. Fullish in mouth with som toffee. Great choc and then really surprising bitter hops. Did not expect the hop level on this. Tingly on the tongue. Really good brune. Drank it at room temp on a train. Soft milk choc and then tingly hop. Does not taste of 7%. Easy drinking and the drying, tingling hop on end is worth it. Probably the best French brune I have had.

(Bottle 75 cl) Hazy amber with a tall, off-white and rather stable head. Lively carbonation. Sweetish, malty nose with a yeasty edge. Medium body with very fruity notes and plenty of sweet malt. Typical rustic and artisanal Bière de Garde notes - a slight fustiness. Very discreet, short bitterness. 221205

75cl Bottle at London Gathering Nov 05, originally from Auchan, Calais. Browny russet colour with thick beige head. Slight haze. Toffee, candy sugar and green hop nose on the aroma with some yeast. OK in mouth with more toffee, yeast and hop on finish. Didn’t detect any rotting hedgehog, damp cardboard or maggots as Silk did

(Bottle 75 cl) Pale amber rather than "blonde", presumably filtered. Huge, pretty head albeit it collapses rather quickly. Sweetish notes of malt with a small, dry bitterness. And then it has this typical earthy, fusty Biere de Garde touch - very artisanal. 180505

(Bottle 75 cl) Dark, clear amber in colour. A huge head with ditto carbonation. Malty, slightly sweetish with a rather pronounced hop-bite. Excellent aromas. Nice surprise. 241204
