33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small fizzy white head. Aroma is dry wheaty, light spiced and vague phenolic. Mild malty, light spiced and smooth yeasty. Citric and slight bitter finish.

Bottle from BevMo in Auburn, CA. Pours copper with a decent beige head. Aromas of ripe light fruit and mildly roasted malt. Medium body with fizzy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is roasted malt with a slight touch of barnyard and some floral/herb hop. Finishes nicely bitter. Tasty. Quaffable.

Sampled at the DC Local tasting. Pours a transparent, yellow with a thin, sudsy white head. Very heavy carbonation. Grassy aroma, yeasty, a little bready, a little perfume. Flavor is sweet, honey, grass, some light yeast. Finish is slightly sweet. I’ve never been impressed by the style. This is OK.

Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light to moderate hoppy, orange, fruity, glue. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, peppery finish. Bottle that I picked up at Carrefour, Citi Europe, Calais, 31-10-09 consumed 04-12-09 Pours clear amber with very thin white head. Initially this a little sweet in the mouth with the alcohol very evident and whilst warming its maybe a touch harsh. Some spiciness, bit of fruit seeped in alcohol, touch of caramel another fairly average beer to end a slightly disappointing beer week. A6 A4 F6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a small white head and a murky, dirty dishwater colored body. Aroma of apple, candi sugar, wheat and dry grain. Taste is lightly tart with fruity notes and candi sugar. Watery mouthfeel and light bubbles.

This is a very interesting beer, first of all there is crud around the lip and applying some pressure to the metal flip top actually gave off a hiss. Due to my worry about the future condition of the beer I wanted to drink this quickly. The beer pops with thunder. Surprisingly, however, the beer pours with just a medium head that fades into a thick lacing. The color of the beer is a dark orange caramel amber. Its is a bit hazy and grows hazier with successive pours. The final pour comes with some light particles and a bit of a gelatin appearance. Following the appearance it is a definitely distinguished and delightful beer. I am glad to be able to try this. The aroma is full of tart apple skins, all the way with the apples and not in the aceto or other sour ale brews. Behind the skins there is a bit of crust and a thick BdG maltiness more familiar to the style. But I love the freshness and liveliness of the aroma. Flavor is more on the malt biscuit BdG area with some honey features. The apple skins come in later in the flavor to round it off. This gives it a refreshing finish. Just a bit of toast back there as well. Everything melts away and a grape-like malt and light tart apple skins linger for a little while. Its not sweet or not sugary anyway, well attenuated. The body has a nice and medium-light heft. The carbonation is actually just average. This is a very nice brew with a definite traditional malt backbone but a nice original aspect as well. This is the best experience I have had with a French beer since I first tried La Bavaisienne Ambrée.
