12oz can pours a murky black with a ring of beige head. Nose has a lot of earthy cinnamon and bread crust, some jammy notes, light molasses, hints of acetic acid, some raisin, black pepper. Flavor has more sweetness than the nose lets on, licorice and molasses, black pepper, a little pen ink, some jam, a little umami. Finishes medium bodied with some peppery notes.

Sample from cask at the 12th annual Smokehouse Mini Real Ale Fest on 05/16/15: Clear pale orange-gold color with a medium thin white head that evaporates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of oranges, vanilla and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of orange and vanilla, along with some sweet malt in the background. The finish is citrusy with a vanilla aftertaste. Captures the essence of a dreamsicle very well, pretty good overall.

Aroma of citrus, hops and roast malt. Medium to full body with flavors of citrusy hops, pine and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering grapefruit and hops aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Poured from a can. Aroma has a moderate cinnamon note with some moderate chocolate and light roast. A bit sweet with a medium light berry note. Faint acidity. Pours black with a small, somewhat thin, dark mocha head that quickly recedes to the edges where it lingers for a bit. Flavor has a moderate sweetness upfront with some light tartness in the finish. Moderate notes of sweet, dark chocolate gives way to slightly stronger notes of roast and moderate cinnamon. Medium light berry notes mid palate into the finish add the light tartness that is found in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Medium astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, this beer does not work for me. The roast and cinnamon in the finish exacerbate each other and the astringency. This is contrasted and highlighted by the berry notes and light tartness. An odd combination of flavors which might have worked without the cinnamon. The mouthfeel is also odd for the style, thick upfront but thin in the finish. Gets a little better a sit warms and the berries come out more in the flavor.
