Cask, handpump at The Sparrow Bier Cafe, Bradford, Friday 20th February 2015 Pours dark brown with barely a head. Pleasant warmth from the chipolte, a little spicy mhhh..a decent porter, the chipolte is the key thing here, but it is a little smoky and warming. Not an awful lot else to report on with this beer, that said it’s very nice. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Manchester Beer Festival 2015. Black with a frothy off-white head. It’s smoked throughout as well has having a dominant hot spice, although this combination doesn’t quite compliment each other in this ale. There’s some chocolate and orange in here too.

Bottle shared at Garvie’s. Pours clear yellow with a large, billowing white froth head. The nose has lots of doughy wheat, floral notes, some candi sugars. Medium sweet flavor with some further doughy bread, pale wheat, a hit of saison yeast, white grape. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish with more doughy wheat bread, faint bitter hay, yeast. Tasty saison.

500ml bottle, 5.3% ABV: BBD Jan 15. Poured into a thistle shaped glass (Gordon Finest Gold) at home on 19 Dec 14. Dark ruby hue to the brown/chestnut body, the beige head soon fell away to a thin wisp and collar. Sweet, yet slightly smoky malts in the nose, mild chocolate notes within the aroma too. The taste is also smoky chocolate maltiness, add an alcoholic twist, a malt loaf doughy feel, dark, wine soaked raisins, dates and saltiness: tastes OK. Smooth, almost rich and creamy palate to the brew. A pleasant surprise and my treat after Grimsby Town won their football match this evening.
