Aroma is sweet and fruity with gooseberry bush, biscuits, hops and caramel. Flavour is sweet with fruity notes, caramel, some hops, gooseberry bush leaves and hints of biscuits. An IPA too much on the caramel side. Not bad though.

Taste is malty, sweet, caramely and dry with loads of bitterness, hints of berries, toffee and grassy hops. Finish is dry, sweet and sticky with loads of bitterness and hints of berries. A bit unbalanced, doesn’t feel very fresh anymore.

A black beer with a huge, dense and light brown head. The nose is roasted, some tar, the hops are fresh and citrusfruity, some salt liquirice and fruits. Taste is strongly roasted, almost burned, coffee, some smoke, medium and citrusfruity bitterness. Medium bodied, at the beginning too high carbonation, that makes diffucult to taste the beer, more balanced after a couple of swirls, but high carbonation, anyway. The nice aroma, but the taste is too burned and simple with too high carbonation, and not even the nice hoppyness cannot totally save this IS. Anyway, the good beer.

Hazy deep amber - red beer, tidy tan head. Palate is soft and a little dry. Nice nose of marmalade and red berries. Creamy malt. The hops follow the nose - marmalade and lesser red berry fruits. Floral dried fruits with a tangy tangerine note. Finishes soft with a mild hop tang. An unusual and tasty beer, very drinkable.

Opaque dark brown beer, tiny tan head. Palate is light and slightly soft. Mild minerals. Rich earthy coffee, not that bitter. Underpinned by malt cream. Finishes semi dry with a espresso flavours and coffee tang. Decent if somewhat one dimensional.

(Bottle, Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 27 July 2013) Dark red colour with dense, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, red fruit and blood orange. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, red fruit, blood orange, black-currant, rye bread and a generous spicy bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain malt sweetness. Quite well balanced for its strength and with a good hop character. Nice one.

33 cl bottle @ home. Bottled 26.02.2013, BBE 26.02.2018
Aroma is rather nice with mocha coffee, dark chocolate, hints of licorice and peppery jalopenos. Flavour is quite a disappointment after that. It has coffee, mocha and jalopeno-like vegetables. Finishes dry with harsh bitterness, rubbery notes and peppery spiciness. Most likely a bottle too old even though the BBE date is far in the future. Most of coffee beers just can’t make it.
