2005 Bomber, a gift from Odeed and our friend Devin; Nose of caramel, apples, and spices; hazy copper with a small beige head; flavor of sweet caramel, fruitiness, and clove & peppery spices, along with some alcohol, which stands as the finish. As it warmed the piney hop bitterness came out nicely.This is a decent barleywine. Much better than a 3!

Bottle from Bottle Barn; Nose is caramel, and buttery popcorn; lightly hazed amber with a medium beige head; flavor of caramel, hop bitterness and a small amount of diacetyl butter. Finish is a little bit of hops.

Bottle from Bottle Barn;Nose immediately shows grain and caramel, with vanilla notes; a tiny bit of piney hops is there, but faint; clear yellow-orange with a medium yellow-tinged head; flavor has hop bitterness and a lot of malt, vanilla and caramel mixed with some sweetness; hops show up as a lot more bitterness in the finish. Enjoyable flavors, but not the way I find them in most IPAs.

Clear cherry brown body with a medium creamy tan head. Sweet molassas, rum-soaked fruit, caramel and tea aroma. Heavy malty flavor, light spice and pepper followed by molassas and some very sweet fruit.

Bottle. Ruby/mahogony beer with a light tan head. Yeasty, dark malt aroma. Malty, yeasty, slight fig/raisin flavor with backing dark malts and some breadiness. Medium body. Lingering caramel malt, yeast, and breadiness.

Brown, tan head.Nose of raisins, brown sugar but slightly astringent.Dark malts and fruits, medium alcohol heat actually detracts from flavor instead of enhancing it. Not a great effort

Draft. Copper color with a nice off-white head. Grapefruit aroma (bigger than other bravo beers). Grapefruit, caramel, slight earth flavor medium body. Lingering pithiness with grapefruit bitterness.

Bottle from Bottle Barn, Santa Rosa; Nose of alfalfa, grain, and light caramel malt; clear gold with a big off white head that nicely laces the glass; flavor has mild hop bitterness mixed with sweetness, caramel, and graininess, in a medium body with a little bitterness in the finish balanced with some lingeriing caramel.

A brown ale can’t get much better than this. Light whisky and a rye aroma. Full malt flavor, some rye and unprocessed grain. Considerable hops in the flavor as well, and alcohol on the palate.

Aroma of fruit and Belgian sugar. Golden amber color with a white head that laces. Thin to medium bodied; very moderate carbonation. Starts sweet, with coriander spice, and light bitterness. Nothing effectively balances the sweetness, but it is very refreshing, and the effect is of a light, low alcohol, tripel. Reheitsgebot be damned, it is really very good. Went well with steak fajitas.
